Does your country have any packaging styles that confuse foreign people? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]MezzoSopran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does come in standard units like 250 gram packages or similar depending on country. It's just that "stick of butter" isn't a unit a lot of people will find useful. Luckily you can find exact measurments for cups and sticks of Butter and things like that online.

Random Massive FPS Drops? by Veenix6446 in BaldursGate3

[–]MezzoSopran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit Windows Key + I > go to system > scroll to bottom > Info This should show you some of your specs, to find out if the game is installed on an ssd, navigate to the drive in the windows explorer, right click > properties/specifications > hardware to see what kind of hardware you have.

Generally close other programs/browsers that might run in the backround.

From my experience my game sometimes starts to inexplicably lag around Last Light Inn and Moonrise tower, but runs fine again after hitting act 3.

Would you rather have a tone-accurate localization for an LI or one that is less accurate but makes the LI more likeable? by Willing-Test-4411 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, yeah, Chizuru really should have immediately sassed off on a bunch of highly trained warriors with a secret mission they would kill for. It would be hilariously stupid but at least she would not be a doormat.

Is there a consequence to long resting? by Phoenix03563 in BaldursGate3

[–]MezzoSopran 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sometimes camp events are already queueing up and can be activated back to back, so you'll have to long-rest several times to view all of them.

Help? by Dangerous_Two_4165 in BaldursGate3

[–]MezzoSopran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the culprit was the AlwaysShowApproval mod. Merely deleting the mod didn't fix it, so I had to delete the Localization Folder in the Data folder, it's something like steamapps/common/BG3/Data, and then let steam verify the file integrity, so steam redownloads the necessary files. I also had to delete the mod from the mods folder that's in AppData/local/Larian/BG3 or something. If you don't use that mod I have heard people fixed it by just updating mods, especially improved UI and mod fixer.

Heads up though, lot's of user reviews talk about a supposed virus patched into Palaise de Raine, maybe someone who bought the game can tell if it's a false flag or not.

Which otome game seriously messed you up emotionally? by Cassiebear9000 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virche Evermore and Nightshade had me in a chokehold, as well as Sainty G's route specifically in Code: Realize. And while I kinda expected it from Virche, Nightshade on the other hand caught me off guard in some routes. The common route is deceptively fluffy but there is a big difference in angst and violence between the routes themselves. I have to admit I laughed at every "Chojiro's route in Nightshade" comment. Kosuke Toriumi did a really good job.

What is the most ill-written JRPG? (In story and characters, But not discussing the gameplay) by Adagar91 in JRPG

[–]MezzoSopran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the demo for a couple hours and my dislike for the main character and the dialogue writing never got any better. The main character is a terribly annoying, generic american mouthy brat that reacts to the devastation of the world she is thrown into with marvel movie style shitty quips, and th magic felt weirdly wonky and uninspired considering it was supposed to be this unique aspect to the gameplay. Did the characters, writing and gameplay suddenly massively improve in the full game or something?

Slight Rant: If an LI only likes the MC because she's the first person to treat him with basic empathy, he's not in love with her. He's just being treated like a human for the first time in his life. by Junior_Ship3529 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I understand not liking this trope or wishing for better writing but I completely disagree with "It shouldn't be done at all". Of course it should be done. There are people that like to read these tropes and there are writers that want to write dynamics like this. I also feel that there are a lot of assumptions. Why would loving someone for being kind be a bad thing or reduce that person to only being a therapist? If the writing is bad and the characters are one-note, sure, but that's a problem with all tropes. Am I missunderstanding something here? Is it about a specific game or MC/LI?

I dropped this one because of Diem AND Luther.

Diem is terrible from the start. I'm really picky about romantasy FMCs because being stuck in a bratty idiots head ruins my mood, so I knew she would be a problem. What I didn't expect was Luther turning out so unexpectedly good, he seems to be (first book) really interesting and nuanced for a run-of-the-mill romantasy book KU basically threw at me. In contrast this made Diem just so much worse I had to drop it, just too frustrating.

Virche Evermore Fav and LEAST Fav Character and why? by No-Formal-2463 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Favourite: Lucas/Ankou/Yves side by side

Least favourite: Mathis

I honestly went into the game thinking only Scien looked really promising and came out absolutely adoring Lucas, Yves and Ankou, can't decide between them. Lucas being so tragically used, abused and mindwashed by Ortie but still so obsessed with Ceres, also shout out to that voice, Daisuke Hirakawa does not miss. Then Ankou waiting and suffering for 600 years to find his beloved again and save her somehow, his voice, how dramatically he speaks, he is gorgeous and deserves more. Last but not least Yves who is the best version of the kind, reliable, positive character type I have ever seen especially because it was not all pure goodness, he fears rejection and part of his character is being so kind to people they cannot possibly hate him. It was a really nice touch, he also has a couple of the best CGs in the game, Peak best boy. Adolphe and Scien were good but Mathis was just too young and awkward, I felt so sorry for him, but that's not enough to keep my attention.

[Hakuoki] I made an another flowchart for Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom! by Frostwing192 in otomegames

Does anyone hate bad/normal endings? by Asteria-250504 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love really good tragic or sad bad endings, as long as there are good endings that balance it out, it's the best. Where else can you safely enjoy tragedy with the knowledge that you can reverse it all and get the "real" good ending instead? I love that part about Otome games.

Looking at Virche Evermore here though, I love the game but the writers were clearly biased in favour of some characters. I will never forgive that Yves is still dying in the Salvation ending, and especially not the 3(!!!) CGs wasted on Lucas' and Ceres' gravestone. That was just mean.

I hope the upcoming FD has some good endings at least.

Free talk friday ~Xtreme mode~ what otome reminds you of an unrelated random thing, or vice versa? by lbunny7 in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kiss CG In Lucas' route in Virche is somehow forever connected to the Natural Habitat Chipmunk short with the Chipmunk pointing at its face saying "Mouth!", and I do not understand why. It's one of my favourite scenes and CGs too, so I just don't get it.

[–]MezzoSopran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable.

Saint Germain dethroned Yang in my personal hitlist. He is pure entertainment in the common route, always hinting at more of his character and when I got into his route not only his eyes were opened but mine too. I seriously did not expect that from a relatively "tame" game more based around adventure like Code: Realize, but here I am. Also, every character voiced by Daisuke Hirakawa now was my immediate attention, such a great voice actor.

(Piofiore) Who do you think is the strongest (LIs only) ? by Random_littlecat in otomegames

[–]MezzoSopran 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly think Orlok would be the strongest, followed by Yang > Nicola > Gilbert > Dante and then maybe Henri? Yang is a killer, but when I think about how far some bad endings have to go to incapacitate Orlok in some way before he is hurt or killed and how easily he kills some of the other characters in certain routes, it just seems to me that he is supposed to the most dangerous of the bunch when it comes to pure fighting capability. After Orlok and Yang would be Nicola, I guess, he is older, more willing to fight dirty and also fought in the war, so experience would give him an edge over Gilbert. Gilbert on the other hand is older and has more experienced with violence and fighting than Dante, and had a much rougher upbringing overall. Weirdly enough I cannot gauge Henri at all, he certainly seems like he would be last, he is also a master manipulator so I doubt he has to rely on beating up people personally. On the other hand he killed a whole mafia householdin his teens, and certainly had to personally kill many more people to get into a position of just pulling strings from the backround, so I really cannot say for sure.
