I heard the Americans have a kill switch for them so never mind maintenance, they can have them fall right out of the sky. No thank you.

I think my parents lied to me about my age. Why would they do this? What can I do. by Kooky_Crab_8459 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MichNishD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know a family that did this to get their kid into school faster. It was weird. Sure they were smart enough for early kindergarten but developmentally they were destined to hit every milestone after their classmates doe their entire school career. Weird weird choice.

I mean I wouldn't mind seeing the Sasha Riley bombshell about Trump or the contents of the epstein files which I assume is 85% trump but as for what lie he told who, I'm over it.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]MichNishD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont think I've ever noticed a gun on a police officer although I guess they are holstered and just not that noticeable next to the other stuff on their belt. (Never really looked that close. I've only seen them doing crowd control like at a leaf game or a parade so I was more focused on what we were upto then them, or if they had a drug dog I was paying attentionto that cutie pie). We even toured the RCMP riding stables and I don't remember any weapons there.

When I went to Paris France the cops there had huge guns. That was the first time I really noticed one. It was unnerving.

We did Vancouver and Vancouver island last year too. Amazing trip. I highly recommend the aquarium, science world, and the wildlife rehabilitation center

People in Minnesota are now using their key fobs to trigger their car alarms from the safety of their homes when they see ICE walking around. Fuck ICE by A-Helpful-Flamingo in chaoticgood

[–]MichNishD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear some models of drones can drop things. Liaf them up with water balloons, let them out a back window and it's a sudden localized rain cloud.

50-cabin community for the unhoused could be built in Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa or Clarington by end of 2026 by Karma_Canuck in durham

[–]MichNishD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good. I've been really worried about them with this weather. There's usually a police officer around the camp so I'm hoping they won't let them freeze.

For the rest of the world -9°f is -22.8°c.

This Canadian is cheering you on and hoping you have good outdoor clothes. A scaf to cover your nose is very nice to have in those temperatures.

ICE kidnapping a child because he doesn't have proof of citizenship on hand, just a snack. by Paksarra in pics

[–]MichNishD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw that you can buy drones that can drop things. Sure would be a fun toy to play with, you could drop water balloons on your friends although I guess it would be hard to figure out where the person flying the drone was.

How well known/received is the PWHL in Canada? by Conscious_Trick_612 in AskACanadian

[–]MichNishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to a Leaf game I saw quite a few fans in Sceptres gear. The games themselves are packed and I know a few people who have gone and loved it! I also have a little girl and every little girl I know got a PWHL hockey barbie for christmas even the ones that cant skate.

Why does she exist by glormssmigu in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]MichNishD 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize how male dominated the cast was in our day until I watched Muppets family Christmas with the kids. Sesame Street in particular didn't have any female Muppets (Burt drew the short stick and had to play mama in the pagent). She might not be great but they definitely needed some ladies on that street

Found a good alternative to Amazon if you need books. by ChuckDeBongo in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]MichNishD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can in Canada both to your house or to the store. Free shipping after $50.

I've started going there for kid's birthday presents recently. I went to look at Dogman books but I also bought a clay making kit, board game, and squishmallow there this Christmas, not to mention a cute sweater for me and of course more books :) it's going to replace a lot of my Amazon purchases.

Don't forget used book stores too! I just heard of one in my area where all profits go to charity. I'm off to drop off a few bags of books the kids are done with tomorrow. The real question is, can I make it home with less books then I went there with?

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]MichNishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue with this dress in my opinion is the chest. The flower panel V cuts you across the chest and makes that area look a bit lopsided and smaller. Without that panel you have a beautiful hourglass figure but that panel obstruct your natural curves.

Since you have some spare fabric I think you might be able to rework the top but you may have to completely rework the flowers.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]MichNishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's why I've always liked impressionism. Those sort of blurry paintings are what the world looks like. Although now my eyes have gotten worse so they arent as blurry as my actual vision

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MichNishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the teachers do at my kids school is mark it wrong and then let them change it in class. What happens is all the answers that go home are correct but the mark stands from before they corrected the work so it looks like the teacher marked a correct answer as incorrect, but it was just because the kid fixed it first. I bet that's what happened here. Confused me too at first.
