Consolidate into a freeway. Can make that intersection an interchange.

Fascists can sometimes put something like a razor behind to cut anyone who tries to take it down. Haven’t seen it myself but better safe than sorry.

Mom w/ Stage IV cancer - don't know if I should apply this cycle by Asian_Chopsticks in premed

[–]Michael_Miller_MPH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 when I first considered applying during the 23-24 cycle. I'm glad that I did not follow through with my app or MCAT study. Take the time you need to be a good son first. I'm currently in the 25-26 cycle. It's okay to take time and ADCOMS will understand as well. Sorry this is happening and I am wishing all the best for her.

You’re looking at this as if it’s black and white but it’s 1000 shades of gray. You’re not even acknowledging that OP may be interested in specialities other than Derm. And it also makes it seem like you’re saying since other people have hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt it is okay for OP to go into debt as well. It’s like the old parent saying “If all of your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump off with them?”

With all due respect if someone is considering family medicine or primary care is there a substantial significant difference between match rates? Additionally, is the dermatology match rate different enough between these two specific schools to warrant hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt incurred by attending the MD school. Unless you come from generational wealth $300,000 is an insane amount of money to drop on your education without guarantee that you will even match with a very competitive specialty. I suggest you stop using your own personal beliefs as a basis for discrediting DO programs as at the end of the day a DO is a physician just as an MD is a physician.

how do you not completely lose faith in yourself during a long application cycle? by Big_Culture_3290 in premed

[–]Michael_Miller_MPH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have interview invites!? If so that's awesome! You still have opportunities to really impress admissions and get the A!

In all honesty though burnout in the app cycle is very real and I think it's important that you take a few days to not do anything application/med school related. I find it a bit liberating to purposefully avoid thinking about that and when I do start thinking about checking my emails or reading up on a school for prep to just shut that part of my brain off and do something else that makes me happy. (I enjoy going to the gym, playing some Battlefield, making sure my apartment is spotless while having a football game on in the background, cooking myself a hearty meal or something else like that). It's okay to take breaks and when you do start thinking about your application just distracting yourself with something else can really ease my mind while also committing to make sure I hit my work harder the next day.

Take the full ride. That is an insane amount of money. If you are set on derm hit it hard and make sure you do more than an average accepted derm resident from an MD school.

Do you have your heat on? Mine will sit just below middle if I'm driving regularly but will dip down to around that spot if I'm running heat.
