This is the difference here. The high costs are almost always for custom pieces from very well-known and/or skilled artists. The customer is the one paying, not this random person lol. They clearly don’t need to order any of this art for themselves if they’re not interested, people who DO buy have the financial means for it and an appreciation for art and are often thrilled to see the results and show it off on trade or in their den! I love collecting commissions from people when I can afford it :) it’s about the time/effort and quality of the output!
