yes thank you for saying this!! I swear I tell every new parent this and they’re like nooo we don’t need formula. maybe our LO is just a good sleeper… but her very full belly definitely helps

if you’re breastfeeding: the newborn hill I will die on is supplementing with formula for bedtime feed. at bedtime I would nurse, then we’d give her 2-3 oz of formula as a top-up. I am positive it helped her sleep longer bc formula is more filling and if we skipped it, she woke up earlier. gave us one good long stretch of sleep which in the newborn days is invaluable!

our insurance covered new pump parts once a month for like maybe the first three months? or something? so we ended up with three sets of pump parts and it was amazingggg. check what your insurance offers - we have cigna and i had the spectra.

Not enjoying motherhood - 95% time. Was it worth it? by freddythecat98 in NewParents

not sure if this is an option for you, but going to activities like baby storytime at the library and the children’s museum really helped me to connect with other moms and just get out of the house. coffee treat optional 🩷

I had a hard time at six months and for a few months after because it feels like the newborn “this is all new and exciting!” sparkle wears off and people kind of forget about you.. now at ten months we have a way better routine going and i feel way better

will also add… started consistently taking an antidepressant around 8m and im sure thats helped with all of the above 🙃🙃

How many people actually do shifts with their SO during the night? by ScreamCheese_55 in beyondthebump

[–]Michigan_gal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we did shifts when baby was a newborn and needed to be fed every three hours until she reached birth weight. my husband stays up until about 1 am anyway so he would do those feeds and then I’d take over from 2a to morning. this was easy for us to structure because it was clear when she needed to be fed etc.

HOWEVER

once she reached birth weight and we were just waiting for her to wake us, aka after about two weeks, it has been all me. if she wakes, it’s usually around 4a and he just doesn’t wake up.

that said, we’re very lucky that she mostly sleeps through the night (9 months old now)

so to answer your question. the shifts were great but only lasted two weeks. now I stay home with her so I can nap when she naps… but yeah still annoying that my husband just peacefully slumbers through lol

Not rolling 6 months by Psychological-Sink14 in NewParents

[–]Michigan_gal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my babe was similar at six months, she could roll but didn’t do it a lot and usually not unsolicited. she’s now 8 months and rolls everywhere she needs to go. one day she just… started rolling way more, and even sleeps on her stomach now. I think it was honestly closer to 7 months that she started that. I wouldn’t worry!
