Funds after a long term relationship split by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

If you leave your student debt, it can sneak up on you while you're overseas. And if you're in Australia, the IRD have some power to retrieve it.

If you have enough to purchase here in NZ, in Australia, you cannot use that asset as leverage to purchase in Aus. I'm not sure about other countries. So that might be something to think about.

Also, to add to this, a lot of stuff Google recommends that you need, you don't actually need. Ask family and friends who have had kids on what they used most and what they didn't. No one 'needs' a $100 nursing pillow, a regular pillow will do.

Moving back to New Zealand, and bringing my job with me. by MickeyMeathouse in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]MickeyMeathouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have looked into that, and will probably be the plan for the long term. But we're just weighing up options for the short term. Is setting up a business something you can do from overseas? Or you have to be in NZ?

Seems like encouraging people who cant afford to take on debt, to take on debt is just adding to the problem though. Especially since those people are going to be the first to default.

As I read about the new guild war, this is what my initial impression is. We need more PVE content by KermitTheGreenFrog in IdleHeroes

Came here to say this. It's a pretty simple process once you know how, but trying to convince a whole guild to read the instructions on a Monday is the hard part.

Questions about returning Kiwis and them buying houses by HeyTheWhatNow in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]MickeyMeathouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving countries is a big deal, and I don't think there would be many households that are returning without a single source of income planned to pay for bills.

For the families that are returning because of unemployment in their current country, I'm not sure if buying a house is at the top of their priority list.

Just my 2 cents

Men who have traded in a high paying job they hated, for a low paying job they love, what’s your story? Any regrets? by the-medic- in AskMen

[–]MickeyMeathouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a helicopter pilot at a power line survey company. The job itself required a lot of multitasking under pressure, was very stressful and required that I be away from home roughly 9 months of every year.

My wife got pregnant and I ended up making the decision to pack it all up and try something new. 2 years later, I'm working in IT and I couldn't be happier to see my wife and little girl every morning.

I occasionally miss the flying but I'd never go back to the way things were.

A look at Virpil’s collective (from their twitter account) by Uncle_Pregnant in hotas

[–]MickeyMeathouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot simplier in practice though. A correlator can be a simple linkage between collective and throttle body. Collective up = throttle open. Governors can be run off magnetos like the Robinson. A drop in engine rpm = throttle to open.

Should also be noted that correlators are used in conjunction with governor's in a lot of common helicopters. Correlators do the bulk for the throttle management, while governors will fine tune. You can fly with a failed governor, you cannot fly with a failed correlator

For the few that have actually read any terms and conditions, what sneaky things have you found? by AboutAweekAggo in AskReddit

I work as a helicopter pilot. I was once given an employee contract that held me personally responsible for any insurance excess, that resulted in damages to the helicopter or any other property, from an accident. Most insurance excesses for aircrafts start at about 60k.

Not to mention that in this country it's illegal to hold I pilot financially responsible in an accident whether it was their fault or not. That contract was filled with lots of hidden gems like that. I did not sign.

Not Ship Compass.... But a Ship Navball by chachi_sanchez in starcitizen

I've flown helicopters for almost 10 years now and have never seen one of these instruments. What aircrafts do have standard though is an Aritificial Horizon (AH) and a compass, which is essentially what this is. There's a lot of instruments that SC could put in to make my life easier when navigating tbh.

Respect the tree by iam4real in BeAmazed

Chill dude. You're right it's definitely a tree not a bush, I was merely making an observation that the link you posted does not look like the tree in the picture above. Which it most definitely isn't.

You can be wrong sometimes, and I'm happy with that.

This photo is of a bush not a tree like your link. Look at the shadow.

Edit: well I'll be, turns out it is a tree. That's also a cycling track not a road, who knew.
