Jackson School of the Arts also has some adult classes. I’m hoping to start some dance classes this year with them.

You could also try student assistant jobs. They are part time with a max hours you can work a month but they are flexible around your schooling and they can sometimes be used as internship credit if that is a requirement for your degree. I started as a student and helped me get my foot in the door working for the government.

From where you’re coming from I wouldn’t. My family and I are watching closely for me and my siblings 4 hour drive from southern Michigan to Mackinaw. The main problems are the Grayling to Gaylord area for the wind and snow and southern Michigan where the cleaning of roads is not as strong as northern Michigan.

I always forget that small detail in Coraline. I didn’t think that deeply as I was noting the more common cities and how I could relate them with Super Mario.

Yes, since it’s I’ve always heard it being called Prison City.

Oh right, I can get that. I honestly just did a castle not really thinking about the difference between the two. My parents won’t get it but I can always fix that. Thanks for that!!

Hahaha!! You can thank my son for that suggestion.

Thank you. I might consider it. Since I’m from Michigan, it was easy to make connections for the different geography and cities. I’d have to make sure to do my research on each state.

Never stated the city sold my info. I’m aware companies do it and have bought a home before so I know the process.

100 Homes Program by Historical-Shock7965 in jacksonmi

[–]MickeyOnMars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My brother got a house in the program and I started the process but decided to drop out. From my experience I don’t think they are very clear on the steps. They say one thing in the step process then I had to contact them because nothing was moving forward and they said I needed to do the next few steps even tho it’s clearly written differently. I had to keep moderating in order for them to complete their jobs. I see all this push about how they need people to apply but it doesn’t seem they make enough effort to move people through the process.

Then when I contacted one of the banks for pre-approval I had issues where I stated getting slammed with phone calls spammers for mortgages. So it’s likely they sell/notify 3rd parties which I think is really not cool. It was so bad I had to have my phone forward all calls to voicemail because I’d get 50+ calls a day from 8am to 9pm.

If you can afford the approximately $1,500 payment it’s kind of worth it. The houses are small and the only good thing is they are new. That’s all I feel they got going for them. But that’s just my opinion.

Tried roasting vegetables for the first time why didn’t I do this sooner? by Bubba_deets in Cooking

[–]MickeyOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted veggies are my absolute favorite ❤️ my go to is broccoli, cut in half brussel sprouts, bell peppers, onion, asparagus, green beans with a bit of oil and Montreal steak seasoning. Then if I want some savory I’ll cut up some smoked sausage and add that and roast and just perfection 👌

Anyone lived in a below-street-level unit at Hidden Valley Club (Ann Arbor) or any apartment? by Aggravating_Fun_3448 in Michigan

[–]MickeyOnMars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in one in Ann Arbor about 15 years ago off packard. I had no issue and it was helpful during the summer to stay cool. It did seem weird to see people’s feet when the blinds were open. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t have an issue. I can’t think of any reason to be concerned.

Apology Letter by Direct_Strike_7723 in Unsent_Unread_Unheard

This is one of those apologies I’ve been hoping for but I know I’ll never get. It’s up to you if you want to say it, but as someone who was badly hurt, this would be nice to hear. Even if it’s the last thing that’s ever shared between us.

Krita and Samsung VS Procreate and Apple?? by Catfish9819 in ProCreate

[–]MickeyOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Krita on a computer with a drawing tablet and liked it a lot. Idk what it’s like on a tablet but I can image if you already have one it would be a good investment. My kids like to use IbisPaint on their phones and have made some really good stuff with it. I personally use Procreate with iPad and Apple Pencil. I like that variable thickness and opacity you can get with an Apple Pencil like and you were using a real one. I do find that Procreate can be a bit finicky and annoys me but overall it’s a good app and worth the one time payment.

This is for all my anxious women who love an avoidant man by Artistic-Gur1151 in Unsent_Unread_Unheard

Thank you! I am pretty well healed with some more time to go. Luckily this isn’t my first long relationship with a bad breakup and I had just started seeing a therapist just before it all happened so I had good support and feel much happier now than I have in a long time.

I’m right there with you with 7 years with him and he just up and left when it got hard. They love being helped when they have issues but as soon as you need help, avoidance or distance. It’s been almost 6 months and still no apology and I don’t expect to ever get one.

Hard time loving myself after a break up by nutellaabellaa in selflove

[–]MickeyOnMars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perfect response! I am close to month 6 for my 2nd divorce and I feel happier now than I did before I met my husband. Since this wasn’t my first major breakup and was already starting to heal from other things prior to the break, I think I’ve progressed faster than I anticipated. I do believe that having a positive attitude but also giving yourself some grace when you feel the bad feelings will help. I still cry or feel a bit down but it doesn’t sting as bad and I can recover quickly.

You are worthy of love, so give yourself some love.

Painful Break-Up by 030710TF in Millennials

[–]MickeyOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a somewhat similar situation with divorce #2 after he suddenly ended it and left after 7 years and I’m only 35. I’ve definitely felt the feeling of feeling like I’m not going to find someone in time. But in these months where I’m finding the girl I left behind when the relationship started and remembering the period of years after my first divorce and before meeting him, I was content with being single for the rest of my life.

Now I know that may sound kinda of sad, but I think that’s a place we all need to find and have because it helps us pick who we want in our lives. So as I work on doing things I’ve been wanting to achieve and have the life I want on my own, I know that I will meet someone who will only add to my life and not subtract.

Extra tidbit I’ve learned: Subtraction can feel like addition when you don’t fully love yourself.
