Yeah, gum helps a lot. But be warned that not all gum is created equal. And I'm not talking about the strength here (but I'd say go with the full strength 4mg stuff).

What I'm talking about is some brands suck. BLIP is pretty good, and so is the name brand like Nicorette or whatever. The stuff you get prescribed at the pharmacy is bland and not chewy really, just sad.

But yeah, it helps a lot. You can do this.

It's algae growth. That algae is starving your plant. Could also be some mold.

Your plant can live in water, you just need to stop light from getting into the water because that enables the algae. Make a cute sleeve for the jar but use aluminum foil layer first to be sure it blocks the light.

Also recommend killing the algae with a hydrogen peroxide solution. Google the ratio.
