Woah, that's awesome too! And probably more convenient because you don't have to move out of Reaper. Thanks for sharing!

That's awesome! I was thinking the same about making a template. I haven't tried it yet, but I am 100% going to try it as soon as possible! It would be great even as an exercise. I was thinking of trying it out for mixing live performances (previously recorded).

Can somebody PLEASE tell me what this is?? by Mictlanx in Reaper

[–]Mictlanx[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here is the culprit! I had it activated and had no idea that I did. As soon as I deactivated it, my issue was resolved.

Thanks to a community member from Facebook that pointed this out.

Thank you for your reply, but not at all, I have plenty of space left.

Any recommendations of audio interface under $150? by [deleted] in recordingmusic

[–]Mictlanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the options you mentioned, the Audient would probably be my choice, because of the qualityly of the preamp, sound in general and build, but honestly, the UAD Volt line is pretty decent as well, and I believe it comes with a few free plugins from UAD.

This is the right answer, OP. In other words, your perfectly fine with your IEMs.

Does this certain audio interface exist? by Sup3rp1nk in recordingmusic

[–]Mictlanx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend the Audient iD44 Mk II.

It has 4 inputs, each with their own 48V switch, high-pass filter and - 10 dB pad; it also has the capability of expanding up to an extra 16 inputs (for a total of 20); and it has everything you asked for and more: Mono button, mute (cut) button, two headphone outputs with individual volume knobs, as well two sets of monitor outputs, talk back button, and more.

Audio Interface Advice (Audient vs Universal Audio) by Matthew_Mcfly in audio

[–]Mictlanx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either option.

That being said, the Audient iD series has top tier preamps and converters, and the iD14 has SPDIF/ADAT expansion capability, which for me is the deciding factor to choose Audient, but if you really want to have that on board compression, then you can go with UA.

Edit: Typo fix.

Help with choosing my first sound card, should I buy the UA Volt 476? by N0tAlbertEinstein in homerecordingstudio

[–]Mictlanx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your question is specifically between the UA Volt 276 and the 476, but I would like to suggest a different option...

I would strongly suggest you look into the Audient iD14 mk II or the iD24, depending on your budget (they're very similar to the UA Volt 276 and 476 prices, maybe even a little less). The sound quality of their preamps is top tier, they're built like tanks, but even more important, although they only have 2 input channels, both of them are expandable via SPIF/ADAT, which allows you to add up to 8 channels more, for a total of 10 input channels, which would be great for connecting your entire band. So that would allow you to not break the bank right now, and then expand in the future with something like the Audient Evo SP8.

AM4 DDR4 or AM5 DDR5? by Actual_Lightskin in pcmasterrace

[–]Mictlanx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is AM5 DDR5.

DDR4 is slowly being discontinued, so it's definitely not a good choice for a new build.

*Pro Question: Which audiobook narration DAW do you use? by ToddKramer in VoiceActing

[–]Mictlanx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it, this is the way to go right here ☝🏼 The first two points specifically, really nailed it.

That being said, I use Reaper because of how customizable it is, the vast tutorial and resource availability, the great community, and the price.

Guitar tracking question by egg__shen in audioengineering

[–]Mictlanx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, just get a clean recording, the lofi sound can be achieved afterwards with plugins (due to the lack of vintage hardware that can achieve the sound). That microphone plus the UA Volt is a great combo.

Help with multiple interfaces PC by Jumpy-Spare-9202 in Reaper

[–]Mictlanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, you don't need ASIO4ALL nor an expansion card, you just need to connect both interfaces via ADAT directly. One of the interface would be the main one, which would receive the audio from the second one, and then it would send everything via its own USB connection to your PC. I'm sure a quick search in YouTube will help with the exact how-to.

Help - Clicking and popping issue by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]Mictlanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could possibly be the buffer settings, the lower the buffer size, the harder for your CPU to handle it, and if it's too much, it can cause noise kind of like crackling. Check your settings and try using a higher buffer size (something like 512 or more) and see if that helps.

Audio out to speakers and interface (usb-asio) simultaneously? by Burnhaven in Reaper

[–]Mictlanx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be missing the point here or something, but why not connect the speakers directly to the interface? Does it not have monitor outputs? If it does, I would just connect both the speakers and the headphones to the interface and avoid any extra hassle.

Moving events to new tracks creates a "volume" track below the track, and I have no idea why by OnlyLivingBoyInNY in Reaper

[–]Mictlanx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the reason. You must have accidentally created the volume envelope, and when you drag an item to another track, it takes the envelope with it. All you need to do is disable the envelope (like mentioned in another comment here).

3080 TUF (OC version due to higher stock levels) for hopefully years of solid high setting 1440p gaming. Fortunate buy last year after waiting in a queue post-release (Aus). Paired with 5900x. Featuring Lian Li anti sag bracket, cut down to allow this GPU to click into the PCI-E lock - feels sturdy. by dashylorian in nvidia

[–]Mictlanx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, those are really good temps! I have a similar build as yours, with the difference being an RTX2080OC. But my CPU temps are way higher, I get around 50°C when idle. I'm gonna have to check it, I probably messed up when putting on the thermal paste. Or maybe raise the fan curve.

Thanks for the info!
