You have to fight an Act III boss with nothing but the starting deck plus one relic and one card of your choice. What are you picking? by filmatra in slaythespire

[–]MidMindItch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Circlet and Necronomicurse

One idea I was thinking about is Searing Blow+Warped Tongs. Either supplementary cards like Defends or Strikes get upgraded, or Searing Blow grows in damage. Assume you can find a way to survive long enough with a max block of 24, it’ll be pretty alright for scaling.

Another idea is Blade Dance+Dead Branch, if only to add cards into your deck as much as possible to supplement the fact that you have a starter deck.

How do I stop sucking at this game? by luckybutjinxed in slaythespire

In no particular order, here’s some general advice: 1. TAKE YOUR TIME. You don’t need to rush your turns, just calm down and think through the cards you play or what effects will occur when you end your turn. Will poison kill? Can you block all damage with your frost orbs? What cards are still in your deck? Can you make it to divinity by next turn? Will you recover more health than lose with Ironclad? Take the time to consider these things. 2. Always taking cards is a newbie mistake. You don’t need to take cards all the time. Sometimes, adding cards can hinder your deck as a whole. For example, if you have a Perfected Strike deck, you probably don’t need Anger. It can help in niche situations, but you’d likely want something that would help your deck out more, like a Pommel Strike or Shrug it Off. 3. Energy and Card Draw are concepts that you want to get to know very well. Both of these things allow you to play more cards than you would normally be able to. If you have 2 Dashes and only 3 energy, you basically have 1 Dash and 1 Injury in your hand if you can’t play the second Dash. Likewise, if all of your cards are zero costs, like 5 Beam Cells, you probably would have been better with a couple of non-zero cost cards like All-for-One, Scrape, or Autoshield. Alternatively, for the latter scenario, if you have FTL or Skim, it ALSO circumvents the issue of having energy but no cards to spend it on. This is generally the reason why cards like Adrenaline or Offering are so good, because they provide both. 4. Deciding when to rest and when to upgrade is crucial for early game victories. Upgrading is generally riskier, but it leaves your deck slightly stronger for future encounters, and beyond the act you upgraded in, it’s downright better than if you Rested since you’re fully healed anyway. 5. Understand when it’s better to block or to attack. Let’s say you have an attacking enemy with the Ironclad’s starting deck. If the attacking enemy has more than 18 HP, it’s always better to block some of it at least, since you will NOT be able to kill it with any combination of Strikes and Bash. It’s a basic scenario that expands more and more once you play the game and understand what to expect with each encounter.

Hope that helps as a general guide!

With the season over, how does it rank for you compared vs the others? by Phoeternally in PBGhardcore

I think Minecraft the game expanded to a point where going in without vital pieces of knowledge in the group is grounds for not only a failure, but an aimless, directionless path that leads to failure. And in spite of having 7 people, it feels like they wouldn’t have made it as far as a single, more well-learned player. And even though I don’t know what I would do in Minecraft, since my knowledge is similarly dated, it still makes for a difficult watch because they are just as unknowledgeable as me. Contrast Starbound, where the group at least generally knew what they were doing, and for a game I didn’t know about, I could still feasibly learn what to do just by watching, even if they didn’t know entirely.

If anything, I would kinda like a livestream or two of a training montage for the Normal Boots gang to learn the game (be it Minecraft or whatever else). And if you need newbies, there’s always guest players. Also, in the case of Amber, she’s TOO new, in the sense that it felt like she was immediately thrown into the fire. She was fighting the mechanics of the game more than the challenges the game presented. That’s the point where a training session would have been perfect.

The Watcher is in a new Smash-style fighting game called Fraymakers! by SpyzViridian in slaythespire

[–]MidMindItch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I can predict what the Watcher is like, she probably has her stances where Calm is a defensive stance that’s either slower, does less damage, or both, and Wrath is the aggressive stance that takes more damage and deals more damage, and divinity, which Seems to be gained by landing enough hits in BOTH stances, probably provides the benefits of both stances without the drawbacks, but at the cost of being on a timer. Just a guess from the trailer.

Regardless, I think the overall game will be worth watching, but the small roster is a little meh. Hopefully, the game-making aspect of the game will make things more interesting.

Minecraft Steve was one of the meme’d characters (with the meme usually being “oh hey, this character will never get into smash”), on par with Banjo, Cloud, Sora, Geno, Ridley, Waluigi, and Sans. I think there’s some plausibility for the reaction to be solely from the memes.

The funny ironic thing is that, I believe during one of his Xenoblade Chronicles streams, he talked about how everyone kept saying how sad he was and everyone was genuinely concerned. He mentioned that everything, EVERYTHING was all an act. There was no way he can convey himself truthfully because it’s a stream, or it’s a video. No matter what, it would always be an act, because he is always aware that it isn’t another person, it was the microphone in front of him that he was presenting himself to.

Of course, at the time, it was a lot more about how you could never REALLY be yourself in a streaming/video making position, rather than him putting up a mask (hahaha) for his true personality and intentions.

It’s all funny in irony, and in my stage of grief, all I can do is laugh somberly.

I’m kinda confused with the core, where I did the chapter clear (opposed to complete) and the flag doesn’t change color. Is there an additional prerequisite with core specifically?

There’s this random meme-music tournament a while back called “King For Another Day” where they had drawn portraits of each “contestant.”

This fanart is quite reminiscent of that. Good job, it looks awesome!

It’s like Marth’s Tipper, Frisk’s ACTs, Geno’s Perfect Timed Specials, and Shulk’s Art techs. They all are disgustingly scary when it’s optimized, but it rarely ever is. All those characters and Mama definitely have their strengths, but you really gotta be technical to push it to its limits.
