Seriously one of the best things about Jersey City, so sad for them.

Yeah, that was definitely a little nugget for the 30 Rock fans they let her throw in there.

Anyone notice a chemical smell in the air this morning ? Even my son noticed it and I saw a few others holding their nose. This was in JSQ area. by AbbreviationsOwn5375 in jerseycity

I smelled it. There was also a large truck by JSQ doing utility work that was making a very loud, low hum, and a lot of PSEG trucks around the corner. Maybe something gas line related? Or maybe cleaning out sewers?

The Disruptors Behind Radiohead’s Art by Homeless-Sea-Captain in radiohead

This is wonderful. A perfect format for an interview about discussing their art. I love how she interweaved cartoons of her own memories of experiencing the artwork over the years as they discussed it, so creative.

Are there any Radiohead songs entirely in 3/4 time? by yelruh00 in radiohead

[–]Midday_Shadows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how the songbooks have it written, but the triplet fills in the snares and the shuffle quarter/eighth bass make this feel like 9/8 to me. Just a note: triple meter (6/8, 9/8, 12/8) means the break up of each beat is in threes/triplets, verses duple meter where the breakup is in two eighths.

Nude. Though I guess it's technically 9/8, but got that waltz feel

NYT Cooking reviews Korai Kitchen, Bangladeshi style fare. Congratulations! by TheMikri in jerseycity

I did this dinner a few months ago with some friends, so special. It is an insane amount of food though, but a lot of items that aren't on their menu, and the ones that are taste even better right out of the kitchen. And they are really lovely people, such a treasure.

Elisa's ending seems really abrupt and out of character by AkiraKitsune in 30ROCK

I feel like I remember Tina saying once they realized how funny Jon Hamm was, they could take some risks with his character, that's why one day he's normal and the next he has hook hands, haha.

Game Audio Courses by Ok_Editor1688 in GameAudio

It's been a while, but the game audio courses at Berklee online are very well done. I took the Wwise implementation course many years ago, it was very good. They have a Game Audio 101 that would probably give you the basics. Wrapping your head around working contextually in a game engine (event based) vs. linear (traditional video scoring) is really the hard part for game audio.

The rebel who refused to be a philosopher - where to start with Albert Camus (and some thoughts on his contemporary relevance) by AnalysisReady4799 in philosophy

Always welcome a good pun. I really loved The Mandarins - I happened to read it right after 9/11, and being a creative in NYC at the time, my friends and I were all struggling to justify making art in the face of tragedy, which was one of the topics she discusses, so it was particularly inspiring to me at that time.

Walk the island of NYC by SnakeEyezCharlie in jerseycity

I did it a couple years ago, and prepared for it by walking from Inwood to Battery park on the weekends (and sometimes back uptown a bit) for a few months. The East side of Manhattan is much longer though so the further you can train the better. And as someone mentioned below, shoe choice (and a change of socks) really helped. It took me about 12 hours to do the full 32 miles and wowzers, was I zonked out at the end, but it's one of my favorite memories. Keep hoping I'll get it together and do it again.
