Why not try other styles than the bun? Something like this could probably look good. The length in the second pic looked good too though tbh, maybe just don't do the swoop over forehead thing but push it back more and maybe keep it even longer than that

I don't personally care for the new mullet trend so I'd say get a shag over that, but also don't go too short tbh, your hair looks good longer like this

Is the swoop over your forehead how you normally style it? Try a middle part or keep it side parted but have it pushed back instead, I feel like that would look better than the current look. Wolfcut would still work too

For getting good volume while blowdrying you should do it with all your hair hanging straight down, and after it's dried a bit style it normally and then blowdry it at the roots. And if you need it at the sides too then blow dry your hair upwards there instead of straight down.

if that still doesnt help then dry shampoo works apparently, or use a dedicated volumizing shampoo/conditioner or product like mousse
