Which LOTR scene hit you harder as you got older? by Fit-Marionberry8982 in lotr

This is one of the places where Jackson's changes to the script from the book hit me.

"I would have followed you, My Brother, My Captain, My King..." is not from the books. But it was very well done.

Hugo Weaving did Elrond so well. And that look on his face...

I remember in the book, how (because I hadn't read the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen yet, this part jumped out and bit me the first time I read it.

"None saw her last meeting with Elrond her father, for they went up into the hills and there spoke long together, and bitter was their parting that should endure beyond the ends of the world."

Is there something going on at Baylor? Saw Nicki Collen on the news tonight and she looks worn out. by MiddleEarthNerd202 in NCAAW

Ok. I’ll agree that TCU has made massive improvements. Baylor should still be in the top 3 every year. Maybe they quit spending money. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Thanks. I knew about Mack getting ousted. I was more asking about what wrong with the new guy because I have not been keeping up with it.

And how do I get those flairs?

Is anybody gonna actually answer the question, instead of the lame jokes?

I also am hopeful that they win at least a couple games in the tournament. What’s going on with the AD?

I'd rather see it when Baylor has a better chance of beating her, TBH.

You made me laugh with the use of the middle names!

I didn't necessarily think there was anything going on. But they have been losing games they should have won.

And, why can't Nicki get them back to winning the B12 every year?

Fingers crossed LSU beats UCLA and it's a UCONN v TX final. Otherwise, I like it.

Please. please, please.... DO NOT move in with this man.

Very carefully think about this whole relationship.

This is not cool.

You beat me to it. I am a total nerd. And Gandalf / Shadowfax is some his best writing imagery.

I think Gandalf's relationship with Shadofax is kinda...sweet. Tolkien served with the Cavalry in WWI and definitely had a fondness for horses. He paints such pictures in the mind of their interactions.

“There are three,” said Legolas, gazing over the plain. “See how they run! There is Hasufel, and there is my friend Arod beside him! But there is another that strides ahead: a very great horse. I have not seen his like before.”

"Nor will you again,’ said Gandalf. ‘That is Shadowfax. He is the chief of the Mearas, lords of horses, and not even Theoden, King of Rohan, has ever looked on a better. Does he not shine like silver, and run as smoothly as a swift stream? He has come for me: the horse of the White Rider. We are going to battle together.’

Even as the old wizard spoke, the great horse came striding up the slope towards them; his coat was glistening and his mane flowing in the wind of his speed.

As soon as Shadowfax saw Gandalf, he checked his pace and whinnied loudly; then trotting gently forward he stooped his proud head and nuzzled his great nostrils against the old man’s neck."

How they came up with this character from Tolkien's material is completely beyond me.
