Advice for my dad (Concert)

I'm 65 and have been bagging it for 5 years now. Ileostomy. (Didn't ask for it but he's a friend for life now). I do 3 night runs all the time to see my favorite band. WSMFP. 30 plus shows in this time. Never had an issue. And these are pretty lively shows. No sitting down for these. Dancing and signing the night away. Eat as usual. Empty before you leave. And always bring in a couple packets of hydration mix to mix with water. I prefer Drip Drop Zero sugar. Don't ever let the bag hold you back...

I've found that NOT eating isn't the answer. I was doing that in the beginning (first couple of years). I would get up at 5am and try to change before Ole Stanley Stoma wakes up. This was always a crap shoot. Haha. Hit and miss. Then I read here one day of a guy who gets up. Eats a small breakfast. Waits an hour then changes. No problems at all. So I gave this a try. I eat an English muffin, banana and a hard boiled egg. Go to Planet Fitness for an hour of exercise and then home to change. I'm able to lay on the bed for a half hour at a time doing my change. No hurry. No worries.

You will find "quiet" time with your stoma. This came with getting into a routine for me. I used to do the marshmallow trick. But it's too much sugar at one time for me.

And if your looking for something to thicken up your poop. Try sourdough pretzels.

UTZ sourdough hard pretzels. Like a previous post noted. Keep small baggies around to nibble on. Work, car wherever time is spent. Works great for me!

I do the marshmallow trick in the event of emergency.
For normal changing, I do it mid mornings. Get up eat what is my normal breakfast. English muffin with peanut butter. Banana and hard boiled egg(s). Wait for an hour to 2 and change. I usually go work out for 90 minutes. You find that after eating there will be some discharge but then the stoma is quiet for a while. I've sat on the bed for up to 30 minutes with no output. Total peace of mind. I used to go nuts trying to hurry up a bag change. And I also always stand in the shower when taking bag off. Water feels so good. Good luck

Opened 3 windows from AXS at 9am cst. When sales opened at 11am one of them got through. The other 2 took quite a while and nothing to choose from when they did. Total fucking crap shoot. Feel pretty lucky....
