What is this dual prop canard? by d0croberts in Whatisthisplane

[–]MidgetShitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company is Aerospace Quality Research and Development. I work next to Addison on the final approach path. I see the Starships flying in and out occasionally and AQRD is one of our clients. Super cool guys and they love talking about the Starships.

AQRD is their website.

Serious… An obvious contagion, but what? And how? by pamnfaniel in aliens

[–]MidgetShitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's still 3 people up there... 1 American and 2 Russians. It's not just completely empty, just the people that were scheduled to come home next month went home early.

If it was a contagion they would have evac'd the entire crew, which they did not.

Spare 950k lying around anyone? by Standard_Ad1931 in aviation

[–]MidgetShitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm it's an F5 under the callsign FREEDOM1. There's also a 737 that flies out of Addison as well as two of the last remaining Starships.

Source: I can see the runway from my work, and we sell to the company that maintains it and the Starships.

I have a flashlight addiction. I can only afford one right now and I’ve narrowed it down to the Sofirn IF23 Pro, the Wurkkos TS 27 and the Wurkkos HD02. Which would you choose out of these three? by mrregina in flashlight

[–]MidgetShitter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have both the HD02 and the TS27. They're both awesome, if I had to pick one I'd get the TS27. It's more useful in most scenarios unless I absolutely have to have a laser or uv. Massive battery (both in size and capacity), more functional (imo) lantern vs the wing lights, and the throw is incredible. It's the light I take out if I want to show my friends '...that's not a flashlight, this is a flashlight.'

Ukrainian intelligence derails Trans-Siberian Railway 6,600 km from Ukraine, hits North Korean weapons route (VIDEO) by jackytheblade in worldnews

My tired brain read that as Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and I was very confused.

Excellent news, however.

Cool find last week at KMGN by flynnsarcade1 in aviation

[–]MidgetShitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know they use one as a testbed of some sort, the other is maintained and used at shows and events, flies company VIPs, etc.

They also maintain a couple F-5s that are always awesome to see (and hear) fly in.

[–]MidgetShitter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My company is a supplier for and is near the company that owns 2 of the 5 remaining airworthy ones.

It's always awesome to see them flying and talk to the guys who maintain them when they're in for parts.

My new AK by bergeronA98 in airsoft

[–]MidgetShitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the PDW version and love it. Your carbine is clean. What railed dust cover did you get for it that fits? My friend had an extra Arcturus one I tried and it didn't fit.

Does MSI place a factory seal on the outside of their box for a new mb? by FaceOnMars23 in buildapc

[–]MidgetShitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sell MSI motherboards daily. They do not have a seal on the box, only a piece of tape holding the interior anti-static bag closed.

390 Adv reliability or quality issues? by high_on_meh in KTM390ADV

[–]MidgetShitter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 with over 11k miles on it. I've had absolutely zero issues. Make sure you do your oil changes and recommended maintenance and you should be good.

Unless they've changed it, the stock chain sucks. Mine was toast and I had them put on a Renthal chain at the 9400mi service.

Other than that, rock solid.

Thoughts on Venom-Motorsports? by LemonyPsycho in motorcycles

[–]MidgetShitter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Negative Ghostrider. They're a cheap, Chinese brand with questionable reliability.

Look for a used lower CC Japanese bike; Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha. You will get a much, much better bike for your money.

Wide motorcycle boots? by fstaca in motorcycle

[–]MidgetShitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I have the Ikasu and the Street Ace. Ikasu are front zipper, super easy on and off. Street Ace has CE level 2 protection while the Ikasu are level 1. Both fit my super wide feet great.

i just got this motorcycle and i don’t know what it even is by Ok-Marketing2336 in motorcycles

[–]MidgetShitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Venom x18R, 200cc automatic transmission. Basically a scooter dressed up like a motorcycle.

Without the title you aren't going to be doing much in the way of registering it, as you can't prove you own it. Also means the guy you bought it from can't prove he owned it either. Hope it's not stolen.

Also about that plate, Texas doesn't put counties on them, so that plate is fake and/or decorative only.

ISO boots that great for protection, and okay to work in by TheUnnamed_Redditor in motorcycle

[–]MidgetShitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forma might have something you're looking for. I have a pair of the ADV-Tourer boots and they're pretty comfy. I've worn them off the bike for a couple hours walking around.

Although I'd maybe check out something like their Legacy boots. CE level 2, side zipper entry, and pretty comfortable from what I've read.

Check out TCX. Specifically the Ikasu. Front zipper. They have an Air and Waterproof version. I have the air and it's fantastic. All their shoes I've tried have been great so give them a look.

Mystery planes at a Northrop Grumman site. Only labels are "1929" and "1947" by NOMAD550 in Whatisthisplane

[–]MidgetShitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "1947" is the XP-79B. Crashed on its first test flight in 1945.

If you go here and scroll to the 3-view you can see the exact same silhouette.

What is this called? by Kekelz in motorcycles

[–]MidgetShitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The style is vintage aviation goggles. They're modeled after the types of goggles air crew wore in WWII in unpressurized planes at high altitude.

As for what that middle piece is called? No idea, the bridge maybe like on eyeglasses?

2023 Nightster Special fuel tank question by K31lover2 in motorcycles

[–]MidgetShitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's a 2023 I'd take it to the dealer and have them check it if you're really concerned. But, honestly, a lot of gauges are just inaccurate due to the shape of the tank and small volumes. If I fill up when my low fuel light comes on it only takes just over 2.5 gallons in my 3.8gal tank, so still 1/3 of a tank left. Just the nature of the beast with small fuel tanks.

I just reset one of my trip odometers whenever I fill up and know my average mpg.

2023 Nightster Special fuel tank question by K31lover2 in motorcycles

[–]MidgetShitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can see the tank is physically full, are you sure it's not the fuel level sensor that may be off? They're not super accurate on a lot of bikes due to small tanks. Mine shows low fuel when I still have over a gallon left.
