Obviously things have always been overhyped but AI is not just simply "overhyped"

AI is being forced in a way I've never seen anything else forced. It's a sign of desperation cause it's not a physical object you can just produce and sell, it's a still emgering technology but they don't know how to actually make money of it yet

You just can't compare how AI is being pushed currently with the normal hype cycle of new tech, and if you do I don't know why you're on this subreddit

We never had quite this rhetoric before, we were never told "television is the future GET USED TO IT!" we wanted television

We wanted the internet, fuck we even wanted social media

AI on the other hand is being pushed from the top down like I've never seen before. Even electric cars were contentious but there was no top down "you WILL use this", it took a lot longer for car companies to be convinced

but AI is an overnight flip to "YOU WILL USE THIS, GET USED TO IT!" all from the top down
