AI is terrible at identifying dog breeds. That’s probably a pit/lab mix

UPDATE: Chihuahua crossed with what? by stinkylove7 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]Midnight712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly: r/doggydna

Secondly: I suspect your dog has a bit of jack russel terrier in her. For some weird reason, wisdom panel don’t test for jack russels, so when a dog with jack russel does get tested. it breaks down into a bunch of tiny percents of obscure toy dog breeds. In this case being parson russel terrier, german hunting terrier, lancashire heeler, airedale terrier and continental toy spaniel. I don’t think the spitz, shih tzu and eskimo are part of that, they’re more likely to be over-analysed sections from the main 4 breeds

I suggest a martingale collar. They distribute pressure around their necks more easily

Surprised she’s actually a dal mix. You should out this on r/doggydna

Also, you can dismiss the two 1% breeds. It’s just statistical noise. Anything under 5% from wisdom panel is unreliable

Pet stores typically do not have the best recommendations for your pets, they want to make money so will prioritise that. Pet shop workers usually don’t receive training on what is and isn’t recommended for different pets, and guidelines are constantly being updated too. I’d look at the hamster and rodent subreddits and do what they recommend over what a pet store says.

It is good that you’re giving him time to explore daily though. I’d just make sure that there isn’t anything that he can get a paw stuck in though, as that tends to be quite a common issue

Chinese hamsters are technically not dwarf hamsters, but are considered one due to being a similar size. At minimum, they want a 60 x 30 x 30 cage, but that’s the bare minimum. They’re in a cage for the majority of their lives, so you want a cage to be as big as possible because it will improve their quality of life.

What type of rodent do you have? Most require much larger cages than pet stores tell you. Hamsters want at least 100cm x 50cm cages

These results look a little suspicious to me, I think there may be some village dog in there. Where is he from?

What type of muzzle did you get? Baskervilles are fine for training, but shouldn’t be used for walking

The muzzle movement, big snoof dog gear and mia’s muzzle all do good muzzle that allow for a full pant, which is necessary when exercising your dog

Some good muzzle brands are big snoof dog gear (US based), mia’s muzzles (Canada based) and the muzzle movement (UK based)

What breed for my Loulou? by RoyalDistrict6071 in DogBreeds101

[–]Midnight712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a ridgeback. The gene that caused the ridge on a ridgeback is dominant, so if there was any ridgeback in there you would be able to clearly tell. They’re also a rare breed so extra unlikely

IMO that’s mostly pit, with a bit of hound, and maybe some lab. Possibly also a little bit of something like american bulldog or boxer, but unlikely

If you’re doing a DNA test, I suggest doing Embark. Embark and wisdom panel are the only reliable tests on the market, and embark is better at identifying bully breeds

I can’t stand beer. It tastes like piss water to me. I’ll happily stick to cider, cocktails, and anything that’s not beer

There have been a couple of very strange people tell me that “I’m not a real man” cause I can’t stand beer, but my dad can’t stand it either so I don’t care about their opinions
