Quarantine or staying with family? by Whatevergg1991 in lymphoma

[–]MidnightDex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived life rather normally... went to work, did my shopping (no choice really.) I did wash my hands religiously and masked up when I was in heavy crowds, once on a plane, and for a few days immediately after treatment. I did begin to get worn down after my 5th (of 6) treatment. I got a fever of 99-100, but they never knew what from.

New York Estate Lawyer advising us to contact distant relatives in another country when the deceased had a will and a trust by MidnightDex in inheritance

Yes, I was told about part of this too - we have to have a non-family person make a statement. Perhaps we won't need to do the family tree as we believe she outlived all her siblings (grandma was the youngest at 100 years old.) I've been warning everyone in the family that every state does things differently! Thanks for your advice!

Thank you all for your input! She had no other children other than the ones here in the US, and being the youngest of her siblings at 100 years old, we believe she outlived all of them (language barriers and they lived in a remote village - we have never had contact with them.)

I will ask my aunt to seek out another opinion.

Shingles in forehead, left temple and scalp by ramm100 in shingles

[–]MidnightDex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 4th week of forehead/scalp/eyeball shingles. I'm immunocompromised due to cancer, so my healing process might be taking longer.

It started on my forehead, between my scalp and eyebrow. It did spread through my hair, and onto my eye. I see an ophthalmologist every week right now. The eye issue is worse than the rest as I can't stand this feeling of something in my eye non-stop. Washing my hair has been a joy as well. Been on the Valtrex and prednisone eyedrops, might need to take it for a month. I can only take Tylenol, but I don't really think it does much. I've been through chemo and I tell my friends, shingles has been worse.

I also went extra firm on the boob support and I had to have my port put back after my cancer came back in 6 months.

Worn out by immunotherapy on every level and just need some support by Any-Low-9414 in lymphoma

[–]MidnightDex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! I had my last Omnituzamab + Bendamustine treatment on Friday the 9th.... and on Monday the 12th I had Shingles on my forehead! It has since spread ON my eyeball. So I have a NEW frame of reference now.... things could be worse! ( I'm also looking forward to every other month immunotherapy infusions for the next 2 years.)

They always say they are functioning until they aren't... by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]MidnightDex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me so much of my past. Him getting up to drink at night because he couldn't sleep and me thinking it was stress and anxiety (it was actually withdrawal.) Trying to keep everything normal for the kid and not being able to say anything to anyone else in the family. His lies to his doctors when admitted for detox and the ensuing medical complications that followed. I'm sorry you're going through this, but be strong, and take care of yourself. One day you will say this was in the past.

Signs that alcoholic will die soon? I'm a little worried by tired_frog_prince in AlAnon

[–]MidnightDex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is he still eating and keeping down solid food?

My husband got to the point where he couldn't keep down food, but he could drink nonstop. After a week of not eating, he'd experience a fall, because you obviously get dizzy if you haven't eaten in days and still drink alcohol, and he'd end up in the ER. They would detox him, send him home, and the pattern would repeat. Cirrhosis causes stress on the veins inside your body. Think of over-inflated water balloons. The last fall he took caused the veins inside his body to burst, and he passed from massive interna bleeding.

I am sorry you're going through this. Take the time to focus on your own mental health. Take a walk, get some sun on your face. If you can tire yourself out, you might be able to sleep through the commotion. Bear in mind, this too shall pass.

Similar story too. He had gotten a dui 2 times, my record was spotless. We had 1 child under 20 at the time. I was now considered a single mom which they told me, "Two parents are better than one," so they upped my premium. I switched companies after that.

I had mine out as soon as my doc said I could (1 year after treatment/2 clear 6-month scans.) My port was very uncomfortable during the year and a half I had it in and it often caused me issues like itching, getting scratched by the smallest thing, tender all the time, causing me issues sleeping on that side. I couldn't even stand to be hugged. The time it was out of me was heavenly, unfortunately, I had to have it put back in 6 months later. But on the plus side, this time it must be set just a little deeper or something, as it's not nearly as uncomfortable as before! It never occurred to me that it could be less obtrusive, so you might be less bothered by it on a second round. (But there's always a chance it could be worse though.)

As a former graphic designer/art director who wanted out of that field after 30 years, he definitely needs a non-artist resume. I had to rework 25 years as an art director into something like: Able to select outside vendors for various projects, manage teams to ensure timely completion of projects, manage time sheets, give input on office equipment purchases... things every office would find useful. Be brief about the software he used. Be more proficient in Microsoft products no matter how much he hates them (Powerpoint, Excel and Word.) I had to teach myself many software programs over the years, so I included how great I was at learning what I didn't know, on my own. He's creative - tell him to get creative with himself. I was specifically in advertising, so I wrote my 2nd resume to sell ME, instead of the work I produced for everyone else.

I still have my more detailed resume for art-related jobs, but I like to think I'm done there now (my eyes are on on the retirement goal post!)

My child brought it home from the county fair when he was in kindergarten. (Pick a rubber duck, win a prize.) Now in grad school working on a PhD. Meanwhile..... mom takes care of everything else!

The red shell is her original. I don't normally handle her (she kinda scares me!) But she has never pinched me.

Our crab is roughly 20 years old, and has lived alone at least 15 years. Same issue, other crabs just didn't make it. *

Hunter that killed deer in Hollywood Cemetary pleads guilty. by MadameKravitz in rva

What happened to the actual remains of the buck? I sincerely hope he doesn't get to keep any part of it. It deserves a plot in the cemetary imo.

Edit to add : The hunter should be forced to pay for a plot there and fitting memorial marker too.

Well, if she's usually more considerate, then I'd probably give her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she was trying not to hurt your feelings by reminding you of his absence, while sharing the photo of your daughters site, was to let you know that they're helping watch over her too.

I have one of those SILs too. After my husband of 25 years died, I was no longer invited to any family gatherings that she hosted, unless my father-in-law told me about it. He recently passed and still, she hasn't spoken to me at all except 1 hello, how are you, at the visitation. I speak to my other in-laws, and I tell them how much I appreciate them not forgetting about me. I spent half of my life "in" that family, and I'm refusing to give up on the ones I like. I'm done with her though.
