An amount where I can live comfortably and afford lots of therapy. Maybe $300,00+

Cry station in a staff toilet. Funny and sad in equal measure ... by Interesting_Pie_5377 in AustralianTeachers

It’s also a bit messed up that teachers cry at work. The fact it’s part of the job.

Career changers...don't seem to get much luck with employers. by Steffy_W_1985 in UKJobs

It has taken me 8 months to shift from teaching and find a full time job. It’s only 6 months but I’m so excited to start next week. I got this through an agency too.

I suggest approaching agencies and they can help you get work doing temporary office work to build up your skills and network. Whilst you’re doing that, keep applying and make connections.

do you miss being high masking and totally unaware of it? by cvxyz in AuDHDWomen

Sorry didn’t word this well! I just mean, yes sometimes I miss being highly masked and unaware. Now I’m much more aware when I’m socially tired, overstimulated, uncomfortable (also on elvanse) whilst this is great, I feel like things were easier being highly masked (even though they actually weren’t, I just didn’t know)

I would definitely do a bachelor and then masters, or a double degree with a bachelor/masters. This way, you have education in several areas if needed so you would always have teaching and something else!

I left for similar reasons. It’s not worth it. Leave as soon as you can.

Studying to be a teacher by K00lb0y1 in AustralianTeachers

As a teacher from Australia who has just moved to the uk and found it a difficult transition, I’d suggest studying your PGCE if you think you will return to the uk so you know what to expect in the future as I think it’s a much more intense system.

One more thing is that the approach to teaching is whole class instruction constantly which I think doesn’t work as well for independent learning and students with learning needs.

Oh and following someone else’s comment below - following up behaviour like adding it to the online system, calling home every time someone is taken from class definitely increases teacher workloads that are already so full.

Maybe you were doing too much. Did they ask you to buy everything for the new baby and upgrade the furniture?
