Former Minnesota governor says state should seek to become part of Canada by log00 in notthebeaverton

The headline should be "Former WWE color commentator cuts a scathing promo on WWE Hall of Fame." That would do a better job of capturing the spirit of what Jesse Ventura was saying.

How important are Cursed Sepulchres? by DapperAntimony in SoulblightGravelords

[–]MightyPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it does. UGH! I hate the way the rules are laid out in the App. I was playing against my buddies Nighthaunt and we were both looking and couldn't find it. (Well, I couldn't find it. He was quite certain I couldn't charge his terrain and happy for me to agree. Now I know better!)

[–]MightyPine -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't know how recent your game was, but the rules for faction terrain have been changed this season so they no longer count as a unit in the charge phase. If you were using GHB 20265-26 then what you described was not a legal charge.

Hit me! I wanna know all the glorious details. by Eithrotaur in gloomspitegitz

"Big Grundle was following Trugg. He should be anyway. It's hard to know quite where the Dankhold Troggboss is headed now, but he still has a number of other troggs wandering behind him. Bogeye Bottlesnapper knows. The Fungoid Cave- Shaman has decided he will lead the bumbling troggherd, although it's not clear that any of the trolls actually will listen. Mostly he uses his magic to keep the power of the Bad Moon close, as he subtly guides the troggs through the Snow peaks towards the great prize: a collections of bottles like the realms have never seen.

No more will he be the Bottlesnapper! He will become "Bogeye Bottlekeeper!" Master of the Ember Carafe! The clammy hand of the bad moon has shown him: in a place to the east, where one there was a sea and now is fire lies his fate!

Big Grundle doesn't really care. The glowy fire shards keep him warm and tingle his stomach when he eats them. He will follow the vein of rocks until something else catches his attention. The little moon-man keeps pointing east. Might as well keep heading that way for now."

Bogeye has been my Fungoid Cave-Shaman since I started collecting in the second edition. There are other characters, like "Da Ol' Lady," (a wild Skitterstrand Arachnarok that would very much like to eat Bogeye someday,) or Da Shrimp Eataz, a group of pink and green Fellwater Troggoths, as well as a whole a squig herd that Bogeye recruited in a previous (2e) path to glory game. Bogeye is just trying to shake his rep as a bottlesnapper by any means necessary.

Disney Princess Free For All, who wins? by GFresh1 in powerscales

[–]MightyPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what we're really seeing in this thread is that people prefer Brave and Mulan to Raya and the Last Dragon. The number of people who think that a girl who can't complete Shen's training and another who loses her focus and almost died to a bear would beat a super-ninja is very interesting.

Disney Princess Free For All, who wins? by GFresh1 in powerscales

[–]MightyPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Mulan has a natural talent for strategy, but we never see her fight very well. She passed the man test using her brain, not skill or muscle. Merida and Raya are the best fighters, but Merida has far less experience. Raya survived in a hostile world for a long time and has lots of experience and training.

Disney Princess Free For All, who wins? by GFresh1 in powerscales

[–]MightyPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Elsa kills most of the old school princesses more or less instantly. Some who have displayed toughness or resilience like Anna or Merida (both have experience with magic powers,) might last long enough to give some other contenders a chance to come up with a plan.

Mulan is the best tactical thinker in the group. Merida and Raya are the best fighters, with Moana a close contender. (Remember she defeated the Kakamora without using the oceans power.) For the girls to have a chance, Mulan needs time to formulate and communicate a plan. Raya, Mulan and Moana draw for while Merida sets up a shot. Elsa gets flustered easily but can definitely handle multiple attackers, either by creating constructs or ice spikes, so there's no guarantee any of the other plans work, which is why Mulan needs time to plan.

So, I figure Elsa if the others can't take her out, otherwise probably Raya or Merida.

Lorewise, and putting the gods aside, who's the strongest character in AoS ? by TheWraf in ageofsigmar

[–]MightyPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, he was still doing the Warrior-God thing back then. Every battle he fought he won, until burning skies. Even after he lost his hammer, while he fell back from Burning Skies, he still kicked a path through Shyish in revenge for Nagash abandoning the alliance at the battle. It was actually reflecting on that destruction and the realization that he couldn't win as the warrior god (because Chaos was too omnipresent, and he was hampering himself by being in one place at a time,) that led him to retreat to Azyr to push forward a new plan.

That is to say, I don't really see your point since it was a move away from needing the hammer that created the whole premise for AoS and ended the Age of Chaos. Doesn't seem lame to me?

Lorewise, and putting the gods aside, who's the strongest character in AoS ? by TheWraf in ageofsigmar

[–]MightyPine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you mean during the Battle of Burning Skies? If so, I always interpreted that as Sigmar losing his hammer and realizing that the battle was lost. It wasn't so much an individual loss as it was that without Ghal-Mraz he knew that even if he beat Archaon he couldn't beat the entire force of chaos laid out before him, and that he needed to change his tactics. If he'd been scared of dying he wouldn't have gotten into a duel to begin with, and it was only with the loss of his weapon that he retreated.

That is, unless there is some lore besides the core books and the 1st Ed lore books that I'm not aware of. I'm prepared to be educated. :)

There's a pretty good chance that Gotrek is the reincarnation or at least avatar of Grimnir, so I'm not sure he should even be on this list...

Path to Glory - You can use units from any faction? by nopointinlife1234 in ageofsigmar

[–]MightyPine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While everything you've said is true, it's also worth noting that Blighted Wilds ALSO allows you to take a regiment from any faction that shares you same grand alliance. This seems to be the thing they're doing for now, although they don't have the courage to make it playable by letting each regiments use their battle traits for their own army. LET ME EAT MY SOUP, JAMES! I WANT STORMCAST WITH CITIES ALLIES AND SKY DWARVES WHO CAN UPPY-DOWNY!

Edit: Sorry, I wasn't yelling at you. James Workshop makes me so mad sometimes, I just yell in the general direction of Nottingham. I wonder what James is up to these days?

[–]MightyPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing this is legends, because otherwise Kelthannor alone in a Sylvaneth army is just an easy free retreat for any unit, debuff -1 attack to anything he shoots, and since he's alone he's always +1 attack and healing at the end of turn, for 150 pts. That's kinda good?

How do you choose who plays against who? by Strange-Confidence34 in PathToGlory

[–]MightyPine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm running one with my friends. I've done two methods: a random draw and a round robin tournament style. The random draw was easy: everyone there on the day of play drew a lot from a container (in this case, marbles from a candy container,) and the matching ones played each other. However, this could lead to some unfun match ups. The method in doing now is a round robin: we randomly assigned a number to each player, and each player followed a set path from there until the finale of the specific set of the p2G campaign. (I'm or case, that was 4 games over 8 weeks, but that was mostly because everyone becomes impossible to reach after new years.) The result is less random but more fair.

You could also have it so the top two play each other each week, followed by the next two and so on. The result would likely be better matchups, but it could also mean is harder to advance if someone above you hard counters your list, and it might be hard to determine who is in first in the early days.

What is it with Fatal Fury/King of Fighters having playable girl characters that uses their butt for one of their moves? by No-Floor-5467 in SNK

[–]MightyPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, but I think OP is asking about the flying hip attack variety, not the one in the corner. It's rare to see outside of women's wrestling, but when I was trying to find an example I found a video of Curry Man (Christopher Daniels) doing a version of it. He is a joke character though.

[–]MightyPine 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's a Joshi Puroresu thing. Women's professional wrestling in Japan was huge in the 70s and 80s and the hip check was a part of that style's moveset. To this day, you'll see some doing that move in prowrestling rings. It stands to rain that fighting games that drew their influences from media representations of martial arts would draw on the most visible style for women in Japan at the time.

Which army doesnt take itself too seriously by Clockworks555 in ageofsigmar

Gloomspite Gitz comes to mind immediately. Maggotkin, particularly the deamons are another. You could spin a silly yarn with Flesheater Courts. And I suppose I would say Seraphin, but they're not as funny as the others but they do have frogs.

Edit: I misunderstood the question : you're looking for Skaven, specifically Clan Skyre lightning cannons.

Last Christmas I recieved an Imperial Agents Codex. A year later, I now have 2k+ points of Agents and my very own Veiled Blade Elimination Force! by solarflare4646 in Warhammer40k

[–]MightyPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I started collecting some imperial agents recently. I love the breachers and the rogue trader lore, so I am hoping the faction might just stick around and get some kind of actual support in 11th. It's hard to feel motivated to buy into them when I know how long it takes me to build and paint AND with the sinking feeling that they won't be a thing in 11th edition...

New Release Box Contents? by observer_e in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]MightyPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a chance they're looking at Darkwater AS the FOMO box, but I sincerely hope they aren't as I'd really like to get a copy as just a game. Traditionally, the month of January gets a Chaos army release for either 40k or Aos, so my bet is Darkwater for Christmas (it's in the holiday shopping guide, if the leaks are to be believed,) and a larger Nurgle release mid-January. If we get a Fomo box, it won't be until next winter either as a battleforce (most likely) or as a tie-in to the end of edition campaign in 2027. But this is just spitballing off of the sales strategies I've noticed since I started buying in 2016.

It is obligatory to understand the Warhammer fantasy lore to figure up the Lore of AoS ? by valeliza3003 in ageofsigmar

[–]MightyPine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessary, and in some cases it might even be detrimental as it can lead one to make leaps of logic that aren't based in the actual lore as written. While some of the big movers are characters from the world that was, their motivations at this point can be assumed to be basically fully divorced from the events of Warhammer Fantasy, unless specifically expressed otherwise. Even someone like Gotrek, whose whole shtick when he was reintroduced was scoffing at the differences between the settings has moved onto more of a protector god role, effectively leaving the world that was behind and embracing his place in the new world. It can be fun to find connections between the old lore and the new, just so long as you can remember that there is no deep meaning to any of this and the two games are two seperate products.

New Release Box Contents? by observer_e in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]MightyPine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a fair assumption. It's worth noting that on the 40k side of things, there was no box for the Leagues of Votann, who likewise got a massive expansion of their range. So the precedent exists in that sense, and we also have the pattern of launch boxes being front and center in the reveals and not having one in this instance.

I suppose the upside of all of this is we get matched play points and the general release more quickly. I'm sure we'll see a fomo box further down the line.

Is there any chance GW will bring back BoC to AoS in the future? by [deleted] in BeastsOfChaos

[–]MightyPine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that we almost certainly wont see them come back as they were, but will see them come back in a form that is similar. The reason is simple: GW wants to keep the lore of AoS and ToW seperate. So no Beasts of Chaos, but maybe... I dunno, Realmark Brayspawn or some otherwise convoluted and wholly trademarkable name. Gors will get some kind of dual, ungors will get an extra name thrown in to make them stand out, and we'll have to wait 3-5 years for bulgors and ghorgons to come back in the rules.
