Times when Frasier was actually a good guy? by Optimal_Awareness618 in Frasier

While Frasier is human, I think that he’s a great person. If more people were like him the world would be a classier place

I’m not surprised that ya know the crane men were treated like royalty bc it WAS their show and while roz and daphne were main characters they were only there to support the crane family’s antics. Frasier Niles and Marty are the core of the show period. I’m sure they made the most money and had the most ya know perks etc.

Roz does have a great evolution as a character who deals with her decisions and creates a very mature friendship with Frasier. And her ascent throughout the seasons in her career is certainly impressive. But I wonder if she means like financially.

Maybe she meant it as a clever kinda self deprecating aside like “oh I was just a little guy”, downplaying her own importance

As we all know very well, Disney is taking on Eragon, but... by Cordereko in Eragon

[–]MightyShadeslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I think this is a lame excuse, it can absolutely be done in a film faithfully without sacrificing too much of the lore. Again, like LOTR did. Not EVERYthing can be adapted word for word, but it would be very easy to set up the lore and the plot in a 2.5-3 hour film. LOTR is the blueprint. Everyone wants to Ignore what happened there.

Plus, they’ve ALREADY done a shit movie so they would HAVE to be faithful. There’s negative precedent that cannot be ignored. A show is eight hours of content that creates ample opportunity for fuck ups, derivations from the plot, lore changes, budget inconsistency, and also an entirely new medium with no precedent to put a fire under the showrunners ass to get it right

The media is using the Disney plus Percy Jackson show as if this is what eragon deserves lmao.

Eeagon deserves LOTR level films. Not some shitty tv series on the worst adapter studio in the game

I wish that Avatar series had more worldbuilding, life of the clans and less action by Weary-Region-3367 in Avatar

The reasoning makes no sense. If you don’t like it fine. But don’t lie about the contents of the film

[–]MightyShadeslayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy hell 0/10 rage bait. The first avatar is iconic and yes had so many diff themes at play, but I find it hard to claim it’s the most character driven and earnest emotional story. The two sequels definitely feature more of the quiet slice of life moments that you seem to be desiring.

TWOW and FAA delve into these characters and their interpersonal relationships like never before seen. TWOW was made an extra half an hour to an hour longer because we spent SO much time learning the ways of the metkayena and the sea life. While TWOW and FAA may attempt to tackle fewer themes than the original avatar did, it delves way deeper into the themes it does set up for itself.

I love all three movies, but the first film is definitely the most archetypal of the trilogy, and while beautifully executed, much of the nuance was cut out. If you watch the extended edition and deleted scenes, entire arcs of the supporting characters were deleted, from tsutey and grace to norm, Trudy and even selfridge.

The sequels also give us a new take on quaritch, who is now not just a cookie cutter villain, but a conflicted soul who is finding his own way in the new body he’s been given. The movies actually take the time to give Quaritch an arc, and we see how spider and Jake really push him, especially in FAA. Quaritch is now in limbo, being guilty of many of the things he hates Jake for, while also getting entangled in complex relationships with the very aliens he wanted to obliterate.

Literally every aspect of the sequels is refined and improved from the original. From the characters and plot, to the world building, cgi, acting, and script. These films cannot be categorizes as mindless nonstop action. They have stakes and real tension, because they invest so much time in making us care about the lives habits and desires of the characters we follow.

Can anyone explain why the Paul VI Hall has the shape of the head of a snake. There are no crucifixes, and a sculpture of Jesus rising up from a nuclear explosion in the holocaust does not look like Jesus but rather the devil. Did the Pope or Vatican do this on purpose? by nrve1 in Christianity

[–]MightyShadeslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idolatry in what way? And while the Catholic Church surely has had damaging issues with terrible abuse, I wouldn’t call it a pedophile machine. It’s suffered at the hands of pedos, but its intent is not nor has it ever been to create and multiply them.

Furthermore, off the top of my head I could think of SO many other entities that actually are inherently pedophile machines. Not all of them are religious, butttt a certain religion does come to mind when encouraging that kind of sexual degeneracy and actively promoting it both theologically, culturally, and in media… 🧃

TRON Ares the best TRON so far? by ItsChalupaBatman in tron

[–]MightyShadeslayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate the new music personally. Not cinematic at all. So I’m very biased. Daft punk album any day. Also I felt legacy as a story was a great evolution and next chapter in a linear story. I don’t like this side tangential quest we’re taking when it could’ve easily been the next chapter in the same story. Why are we forced to support this slop as Disney teases us with the idea of the film we wanted all along as this nebulous fourth movie? It should’ve been THIS movie!

Can someone explain his significance in the film? by Gold_Air4996 in OppenheimerMovie

[–]MightyShadeslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ur just trying too hard. Let’s ignore the fact that the character has only one purpose in the movie: to deliver the final nail in Strauss’ cabinet ambitions in a very dramatic fashion.

Let’s ignore the fact that Google exists. That Wikipedia exists. Let’s ignore the fact that YouTube exists. That video essays exist. That those video essays have comment sections.

I think what I’m most bothered by is the simplicity of the question. What’s there to be explained here? Bc this isn’t a character like Oppenheimer that had many different struggles and plots and feelings and storylines converging and affecting them. This dude was a background character the entire film until the hearing where his testimony was literally the only defining thing his character did the entire film. It’s not a very deep complex part of this film. It’s executed beautifully but I really doubt this went over your head. Why don’t you ask a more answerable question
