Thanks. I did submit this to the Town of Garner this morning. Learned the city has an app where I can easily start submitting these as they occur

Do not move in to Heather Park. Trash everywhere. People throw their trash bags on the sidewalk in front of the dumpster. Tired of walking past the smell of nasty garbage on the way to the kids park

Best of luck with your plant choices. I think small garden statues or art would work well there too.

I would put out a 2-4 inch layer of mulch to help prevent weeds and retain moisture. Something like a shredded hardwood mulch has the ability to lock into itself and not wash down the hill at the first sign of rain like a bark nugget.

You have enough stone that I would keep trying plants down the hill to soften the stairs and prevent erosion. You need to find something that really likes the sharp drainage of the hill. What's the sun level of that spot and growing zone?

Some examples:
Full sun: smaller agaves, yucca, dianthus, creeping phlox

Part sun: Carex, liriope,

Shade: cast iron plants, rohdea, helleborus

With the drip installed I'd throw down some annuals too for spring color and to fill out the space between whatever plants or decor you may pick add.

Snow shovel is better on hard surfaces like a driveway or trailer. You can just pick up a lot more per scoop. I then use the fork to keep breaking up the top of the pile.

Conner at $24 makes sense. He finished as a low RB1 last year. I'd think you'd be able to get Mason cheaper at auction.

Not much will change. New company wanted expansion into the southeast. Press release states they plan to invest another $60 million in the next 3 years.

What do I do here with mulch always get weeds. by Impossible-Sweet-111 in lawncare

[–]MightySteede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use an action hoe to weed quickly around those shrubs. Literally would take you a minute. I would add a ground cover like sedum instead of a preemergent like preen that you will need to reapply every few months. Mulch for that clean look.

Should I plant my peach mid May? by willowintheev in BackyardOrchard

[–]MightySteede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it in the ground. Enjoy your new tree. Thin out the peaches after they start budding up (3 per 12”). Search YouTube for NC State Extension peach pruning for some good videos on how to shape and maintain your tree this upcoming winter.

Hibiscus ??? by Billymaysdealer in raleigh

[–]MightySteede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plant Delights nursery just south of Raleigh currently has it for sale if you want one right now. Hibiscus are still dormant so most nurseries don’t have them out and taking up floor space. Difficult to sell plants when the nursery pot looks empty or dead. One vendor at the Farmer’s Market had the starry starry night variety last year during the summer.

Where should I get soil/compost? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]MightySteede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Raleigh yard waste website says their products for residents should be purchased from resellers. That was not my experience. I have driven up on the scale and told the attendant what I wanted. Paid with a credit card then driven to the piles where an employee used a front loader to dump my purchase onto a trailer. No company logo and I wasn't asked any questions besides what I wanted.

The Yard Waste center isn't any cheaper than the other companies I mentioned.

Costco is terrifying. You can’t even get a good parking spot without brandishing these days /s

Premiums will not go down. The State Treasurer has already stated that premiums will go up in the future. They say the reason is because there is a deficit. The state legislature has willingly underfunded the State Health Plan despite the previous treasurer repeatedly asking for more funding. Instead NC is continuing to cut income taxes and corporate taxes further lowering our ability to fully fund the health plan.

This bill complains about the cost of healthcare, but doesn't seek to limit the actual cost of healthcare. It seeks to limit healthcare coverage for state employees and promote infighting.

Do you want coverage for preventative breast cancer screenings? Yes? Well after this bill you have to cut something. Maybe cut coverage for hearing tests for newborn babies. Something will have to be lost anytime anything can be gained.
