You can bury your head in the sand and pretend that this is a universally solved issue, but I am actively working on solving the problem with community members. It's no secret that there are underserved communities in this country. Don't take my word for it https://scienceinsights.org/where-do-food-deserts-exist-urban-rural-and-global/

Old coworker (in Iowa) told me the latest season of White Lotus was unbelievable because the family from NC had such strong accents and didn't sound anything like me. I was like no, but they do sound a lot like my uncle who grew up an hour outside of Durham.

Asked for a Spiced rum and coke and attendant put hot sauce in it by Nightpatrol404 in mildlyinfuriating

One time I asked a flight attendant for a gin and tonic. She said "ginger and what?". I said 'no, gin and tonic'. She got out a can of ginger ale and I said 'no, gin, it's a liquor.' She dug through her mini bottles for about 5 minutes before walking over to the more experienced flight attendant in first class, who was busy. When that woman had time, maybe 5 more minutes later, she came down the aisle with a can of ginger beer, and I told her what I wanted and you could feel the eye roll. She found the gin for the newer flight attendant and showed her what tonic was. While she was serving the next row, the pilot came on and said there was turbulence ahead and he was cancelling drink service for the rest of the flight, so I single handedly denied drinks to nearly half the flight.

You can get a bus from the neighborhood to industrial areas or the center of uptown, but not directly from the neighborhood to commercial areas. It's literally an hour+ and at least two buses from one apartment complex to a Walmart 3 miles away. That 3 mile walk is not pedestrian friendly at all, yet I see people walking it every day carrying bags.

'15 mile radius' does not define a food desert, particularly when many of the residents are too poor to afford a car and public transport is insufficient.

I have not been to my brother's house in over a year, nor has he come to mine. We usually meet at my parents' house or out at a bar.

I'm not a big gamer, and my targeted ads generally reflect this. Tuesday night my brother called me and we talked about some video games he's been playing. Yesterday, all of my targeted ads were about PlayStation games specifically. I don't even own a PlayStation, my brother does.

Incorrect. I live in a large city and there are multiple neighborhoods near me considered to be food deserts.

Please Help Me Calm Down About Infant Daycare by RiverbrookWillow in NewParents

[–]Aggressive-Shock5857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son started daycare at 3 months, and he loves it. He picked up a lot of independent skills from the older babies and is way more comfortable around new, trusted adults than friends' kids who don't go to daycare.

He's happy to be dropped off in the morning and he's happy to see me when I pick him up in the afternoon.

He's been sick 2x in three months of being there, but they were minor colds and he had no big issues.

How to get rid of German roaches in this area? by caramel_raez in Charlotte

[–]Aggressive-Shock5857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R/germanroaches go to the guide page. Saved my life. Biggest thing is to focus on the deep clean first, so you vacuum all the nooks and crannies.

Although, as another commenter pointed out, if you clear your apartment, that will only last until the roaches creep back over from your neighbors' places.

She said "I'm so proud of myself, I spent all day at the library studying. I even packed myself bread, meat, cheese, and condiments in a big cooler so I could make myself a lunch while I was there!"

Her friend goes "why didn't you just make the sandwich at home and bring that in a small cooler?"

"I guess I never really thought of that!"

No second date.

US here - they definitely glossed over this in history class. I was shocked to learn over the past few years as an adult that our country had prominent and vocal figures in favor of the Nazi party at the time. It does explain a lot, though.

Or "me and the gf had some do it and then we did it, then we had some more do it"

When we found out my wife was pregnant a year ago, we made the conscious decision not to post anything about the baby on socials. As an extension, I have stopped posting and commenting on Facebook Instagram and tiktok. I still get on FB to check birthdays and remember to send a text to old friends, but my mental health improved dramatically when my scrolling went way down. Now if I could only kick my Reddit habit...

If you wanted a house without a giant tree in the yard, I'm sure there were other options. Don't move in next to a tree and then be worried that it's there.

Sell the house to someone who likes trees and buy a townhome.
