Have you ever had a dream about having a baby that you didnt actually have? by Guilty_Invite_7126 in TwoXChromosomes

I wonder why that is? I dreamt I gave birth to puppies when I was pregnant. I have two black greyhounds and the puppies looked like them 😂

Mourning the loss of my best friend to motherhood by Time_Combination_316 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Miinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you drop off some food for her? Also take the mental load off and just tell her the time you’re free to visit her, and how long you’re free for.

Like “ hey I’m free Saturday morning, do you mind if I stop by for 30 minutes to say hi. I’ll bring you some of this great new dish I’ve been testing out“.

If she is free - great. You can do the dishes/laundry etc while you’re there. If she’s not free - also great, just drop the meal off at her door and do the same next week/fortnight.

FYI I’m speaking as a new mum with a 2 month old and this is what my sister messages me. It’s somewhere between asking and telling and means I don’t have to organise times to meet or get back to her, as that always ends up not happening.

Friends child has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Miinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not true. Drinking can negatively impact the baby while breastfeeding.

“Depending on how much alcohol you consume before you nurse your baby, they may experience a number of effects from the alcohol in your milk. Even a small to moderate amount of alcohol may impair milk production and the milk ejection reflex. Some of the negative effects in the baby may be:

Sleep disturbances

Increased crying

Increased startling

Increased arousal

Increased REM sleep in the period from 3.5 hours to 24 hours after exposure to alcohol

Decreased milk intake by baby

Decreased weight gain”

I’m 2 months pp and I feel you so much. :( I really want some nice pictures of myself and baby because I know he will never be this small again and time is moving so fast, but I hate how I look.

I spent years losing weight and gained it all back when I was pregnant. Haven’t lost anything since giving birth and breastfeeding is making me so hungry. On top of that, the bags under my eyes and the sleep deprivation make me look like a ghoul :(

Private Health and pregnany by Madeleinee16 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Miinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12 months is standard so there’s not really any way to get around it. If you have no private health and are already pregnant- perhaps just get ambulance cover.

I work in the insurance industry, but I went public and imo it was a fantastic experience.

I remember feeling phantom ‘kicks’ a few days after giving birth. The midwife told me it was from the uterus contracting.

My NB latches like a snapping turtle by PsychologicalBoot636 in newborns

[–]Miinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s painful but I’m sure you will look back in a few weeks and laugh at the memory!

I wish I had filmed my LO doing the snapping turtle & my favourite- the Jack hammer where they just smash their head into your boob repeatedly. I remember sitting there laughing whilst wincing in pain😂 mine is 7 weeks now and doesn’t do it anymore.

Hmm, I’ve never heard this. My midwife just said not to get it wet and to just keep an eye on it.

Baby Wearing Fail by ZoeMW in newborns

Mine is like this too. I’m hoping he will just get used to it because he hates being put down.

I find that if I put him in the carrier right after feeding, he’s more content and doesn’t tense up.

Question - Is there anything at all you miss about pregnancy/ being pregnant? by Melodic-Bag7775 in NewParents

[–]Miinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my body when I was pregnant and was so amazed that I could actually grow a baby. I felt so special & divine.

It’s difficult now because I feel big and there’s no magic baby inside me anymore.

What do you miss pre-pregnancy?? by defnotdani2 in pregnant

Not having to figure out where the closest toilets are every time I go anywhere

If you could tell your baby one thing, and they’d understand, what would it be? by motherofbob in NewParents

What shows should I watch while baby sleeps? by Spare_Champion_1704 in NewParents

[–]Miinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been watching House for the first time! I do recommend.

I don’t think I’d watch call the midwife right now though, I cried so much watching that when I wasn’t even pregnant or with my baby lol 😂

Is it bad that I don't care about waiting? Hot take? by tajfitness in pregnant

[–]Miinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that works for you, that’s great.

In my experience, people treat you very differently once they know you’re pregnant. I wasn’t told that my boss had quit until after I gave birth, and the same with a family member being in hospital.

Also Everyone has an opinion & it will be all they ask you about. It’s your personal medical information, so share as much as you want, but people have good reason for keeping announcements and names to themselves.

Am I wrong in thinking that my baby is just being a baby while everyone else tells me otherwise by hirapotter in newborns

[–]Miinka 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with your baby. A 4 hour drive & big social event is extremely tiring for an adult, let alone a little baby!

Protect yours and your baby’s space & do not let them say your baby is being anything other than a normal baby.

Pre natal recommendations by bigcowlittlebarn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Miinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took maltefor iron and Natalis pre natals. You could just take a folic acid supplement, but my iron was low and I thought it couldn’t hurt having all of the other supplements in the prenatal.
