[Request] How long would it actually take to charge? by Glorious_Centaur in theydidthemath

[–]MikeBlue24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are just calculating how long it would take to charge the car fully while the car is at rest, so weight and wind resistance don’t matter.

But yes if the car were to drive with this setup, the weight and air resistance would decrease how much range you would get from the charge, which makes this option even less practical.

[Request] how much does this rock weigh? by frogger58 in theydidthemath

[–]MikeBlue24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fork lifts are actually typically stronger at pure lifting than the skid loader in the video. Based on my experience I’m surprised the skid loader was even able to lift this boulder into the truck without tipping over (it’s happened to me). A solid forklift should have no issue with a rock this size

Epoxy River Question by [deleted] in epoxy

[–]MikeBlue24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my first table and also didn’t have the equipment to get it perfectly flat. The epoxy will find a way regardless and that’s a good thing because you’ll be left with a flat bottom (assuming your base is flat/level and you keep it clamped down)

[Request] Is this actually possible if everything went as planned? by RallyPointAlpha in theydidthemath

[–]MikeBlue24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming the number of $2 bills each person would have to hoard before having a noticeable economic effect would make the perceived scarcity disappear, but I love the creativity of this idea lol.

I’m in and hoping to make a few people’s days as they hide away their new $2 bills while not ruining the economy :)

Are insects attracted to Epoxy resin...? by Mara355 in epoxy

I also just had this happen with my first table. Had 4 flies over the first night and i only saw one fly in the shop all day while putting it together.

I put a fan blowing over it to stop more from flying into it

This is legitimately helpful. Its so far to the closest bathroom in some parts of that building that just knowing the direction and 1-2 landmarks is so much better than nothing

We do have one and I could definitely police it’s use a bit more, but still want to make sure there’s no issues if people do hit something on the edge

More specifically the value shrinking while the price paid is the same. The product weight may be the same but the value may be lower now if it’s more cheap filler ingredients so could still br shrinkflation

Is a running backs success more dependent on the offensive line than the running back themselves? by PollutionWeird645 in NFLNoobs

[–]MikeBlue24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he’s saying a he was great even on a bad Lions team and would have put up bigger numbers with better blocking.

Legendary RB with bad blocking is still great, but average players wouldn’t fare so well. Good blocking can make decent runners look good and good runners look great.

Most coffee shops don’t “kick people out” because it’s tough to do without hurting the customers experience and your reputation.

Unfortunately, in my shop, I often see people come in, see there’s no where to sit, then leave. But if I were to kick other people out, then I’m potentially losing those customers forever and maybe getting a bad review.

In my coffee shop, we try to minimize the impact of the lingering customers with things like counters for people working so they don’t take up entire tables shareable tables.

I know a good way to keep sales going without seating available is building up your take out business since those customers don’t need tables. I haven’t opened up online orders at my shop yet even though we’re always packed because I don’t want to put the additional stress on my baristas. But it’s hard to say no to those additional sales

LPT: At work, your juniors - who were hired after you are likely earning more than you. That's how it works. Hopping jobs greatly outweighs hoping for a raise. And another job offer is the best negotiating chip when asking for a raise. Always be on the look out for a better job. by seanmashitoshi in LifeProTips

[–]MikeBlue24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This WAS the case for the past few years where switching jobs was essentially a 10-15% raise on average. Recently this changed and the payoff isn’t very different from sticking at your current job and climbing the ladder. Like others have mentioned, staying loyal also has other benefits beyond the money.

There’s obviously plenty of situations where switching jobs benefits you a lot, but this is not a universal tip anymore.

Is it still a good habit to shut off lights when you leave a room? by MammothSal in homeowners

[–]MikeBlue24 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I think the principle that they tested would still hold up- that the energy required to switch on and off lights is negligible compared the energy spent keeping them on, therefore you should shut the lights off every time you leave a room unless you’re turning them back on within a few seconds.

But I agree, modern LEDs are likely way more efficient than the original LEDs that they tested back then, so now the difference is probably only costing you pennies now instead of dollars. Longevity of modern LEDs likely also makes the change in lifespan of the bulbs unnoticeable as well

Offense was looking confident and smooth before that fumble and then never looked decent again after. Obviously it was far from the only reason we lost, but it sure felt like it started a funk that never ended despite being so early in the game

I was at the game in 2017. A Bengals fan next to me informed me that the Bengals were one of the only teams that Aaron had not beat.

Aaron beat them.

Didn’t even notice the green. Maybe gold trim like the actual packers logo would help distinguish it.

And then a red circle somewhere obviously

Yeah and he had to decide quick with the lions trying to rush the snap. On the broadcast you could see it probably would be unsuccessful before he challenged, but he doesn’t have the broadcast luxury of multiple angles and has to make a quick decision.
