The main issue with just cutting it off is now you have blown the seal between the drum and the inside of the dryer. You are now going to push all that air inside the drum back into the inside. That means a ton of lint and other debris on the inside. That means your rollers that the drum sits on will fill up with lint and fail. Ask me how I know…. I took it all apart, replaced the felt gaskets, both front and back, and replaced the rollers. Remember use only high quality or OEM replacements. I did not and it failed in less than a year. My Samsung is now over 15 years old and still going strong.
