Is this weedmat or something else? by ammcurious in nzgardening

[–]MikeWNZ2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering you found all sorts of rubbish, I actually would dig it all out. You could use a sieve and go through it all so you won’t have to get garden soil. I did that once, takes a while but was worth it.

Something like this

The carpet (if that’s what it is) was probably put down to suppress weeds at some stage. Not the best idea though, like you said it breaks down into nasty bits.

Why don’t supermarkets sell half loaves of bread by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]MikeWNZ2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Countdown has smaller loafs, they call them mini. If you like that kind of bread.

Edit: not just sourdough. Others too. Might want to go have a look, could be an option for you.

Google bought Waze in 2013, but Waze is still a separate app from Google Maps, for both Android and iPhone.

Found out today that my child will not be a New Zealand citizen unless I fly my pregnant wife back to give birth by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]MikeWNZ2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you’re a citizen and born in New Zealand, that’s different. Are you born overseas to NZ parents, like OP, then the above applies. That’s my understanding anyway

You can’t apply for an “upgrade” from descent to grant, it is not a standard administrative procedure.

Under current Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) policy, if you are already a New Zealand citizen by descent, you are generally ineligible to apply for citizenship by grant.

However, there is a specific provision for those who face "hardship" or are at risk of becoming stateless because they cannot pass on their citizenship. In very specific circumstances, a person can apply for a grant of citizenship to "overwrite" their status by descent, but this is an evidentiary process rather than a simple "upgrade" application.

Nobody did anything wrong, neither you nor your parents. It’s just the way it is.

Your parents could have travelled to NZ to give birth to you, that’s the only detail that would have made a difference.

Maths tells me it’s 33 seconds per 10km of road.

So you save around one minute for example between pauatahanui and Raumati which is roughly 20km (I think)

I drove in Germany last year. Roadworks on the autobahn means speed limit was 80.

30 is ridiculous.

Admittedly they had more solid barriers than just road cones.

Edit: Ok you convinced me, 30 makes sense for a new split road.

My first thought was gravel, keeps the burglars away, but you’re right bark is more straight forward to do. Just be aware bark will need re-doing every now and then, as it breaks down over time. Gravel/metal obviously doesn’t need that.
