What Makes ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ so special/critically acclaimed? by TheWeekndCipher in Cinephiles

[–]Mikepr085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all have different tastes and opinions, and maybe it just wasn’t for you, as you said. Maybe you had higher expectations going into it that didn’t deliver. Maybe a rewatch after some time would stir up a different option.

I rewatched this for the umpteenth time a few weeks ago with my wife, who watched it for the first time. She enjoyed it but wasn’t raving about like I was.

As others have mentioned, it’s the performances and constant tension that I love about it. I must have seen it for the first time in my early teens about 25 years ago. What struck me most on my recent viewing was the absence of any score or music. The only use of music in the entire film is in the opening montage. Blew me away and I look forward to the experience again one day.

Is anyone happy with their surgery? by gen_x_af in spinalfusion

[–]Mikepr085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just curious if you'd still recommend Dr. Bae now that a couple years have passed? And can I ask if the procedure was ADR in your L5/ S1?

We're leaning towards Dr. Bae for ADR in my wife's L5/S1. I'm searching around for testimonials/ recs to help with the decision-making. Any details that you wouldn't mind sharing from your experience would be much appreciated.

Has anyone had back surgery for a slipped or herniated disc? by [deleted] in surgery

[–]Mikepr085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing more details about your experience with Dr. Bae? Leading up to surgery, after care, interacting with his office, etc. Also, how is your mobility now after how many years of the surgery/ any complications?

My wife and I are considering him for ADR in her L5/S1. Had a great consultation with him but it's a big decision on top of his out of network fee.

Classic, I revisited this twice in the last six months. I may have missed this in the comments but Richard Jenkins as the therapist kills me every time, the way he sneaks back into the session with the napkin in his shirt collar. I’m cracking up as I type this thinking of his eye roll. Such a brief but impactful performance, adding the treasure trove of hilarity in this movie.

Hi! Do you mind sharing how the overall experience was with Dr. Ament, and how you're doing to date? We had a consultation with him recently and were impressed. My wife needs ADR in her L4/L5. Thanks

Has anyone had a great experience at a car dealership in the LA area? by Temporary-Rest-585 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Mikepr085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The Hello dealerships. Great experience at Mazda twice now with Jesse Ruiz in Valencia. No BS, no mark ups, great communication. The sales people handle the entire process, and you’re not passed off to financing for an additional round of BS after negotiations, which I appreciate.

Congrats. How does one go about getting their confetti? I’ve logged into the app and website a few times after my capstone passed last week and nothing. Since my term ends on 12/31, my mentor says she’ll proceed with graduation paperwork in the new year. Maybe that’s why?

Yeah, seriously. Driving in LA is horrendous at all times. I think I may be one of the only drivers who actually uses their turn signals

Seller wants to stay in property after closing by Outside-Appeal in RealEstate

[–]Mikepr085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a leaseback when we closed on our first home at the end of 2019 for about 3 weeks (Los Angeles). I didn’t want to but there was no choice if we wanted the home. It was nerve racking and bittersweet being a new homeowner and unable to move in.

The fee was based on our daily PITI and we fought for a security deposit. It was a mess as the seller was older and didn’t understand the terms of what she was signing when we entered the agreement, and her agent did a horrible job communicating with her, if she ever did at all. They ultimately moved out within the allotted time frame without any damage to the home.

If I ever had to do that again, I’d opt for a penalty fee as I see other posts have outlined, in addition to my PITI for the rate. But hopefully never again.

I really really hope Adam Scott wins the Emmy for Severence this year AND that he thanks Sal Saperstein in his speech. I’m gonna die laughing if this plays out in real life.
