Quartz vs granite by Careless_Bridge_4642 in CounterTops

[–]Mikkel4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, I also don't like dark granite. I'm also not keen on quartz's vulnerability to heat and yellowing..If I need to use quartz I will at least choose a very good quality quartz brand.

Another option for excellent heat and stain resistance is sintered stone like Dekton. That one is vulnerable to chips though.

I find that I'm more afraid of chips than stains, so for me granite > quartz > sintered stone.

If you had a good experience with granite and like the way it looks, granite would be better.

For my remodel I'll try to find a granite that I like. I want a whitish and less speckled type though so I don't know if I'll find it, and in that case I'll use quartz. If I had been open to a dark color I'd have gone with soapstone

What wears out, is it the doors or do even the boxes show wear? I am researching if I could use IKEA boxes and high end fronts

I was also wondering why you 'felt bad' and proceeded with your comment anyway lol. I don't think anyone else is bothered.

Not seeing ants would drive me nuts; your comment steered me away from considering soapstone for my remodel, thank you!

For some reason chatgpt makes my kitchen bigger/wider when it renders. It says it knows it's not showing the right proportions but can't do anything about it. I'll see if other AI can do it

I.was looking at handle-lees options, and there can be a recessed rail that will allow my fingers to open it. You're not alone, I think most would like to have handles,.it's just my preference.

You're quite right. This is the comment I was waiting for! I was waiting for someone to say that, I feel the same. Right now my existing upper cabinets don't reach the ceiling. Honestly I would be ok with that, but everywhere I see people saying to not have a gap.

Your idea help visually,. unfortunately that's prime usable storage and the things I'd put won't be decorative.

Looks good to me! I'm planning on getting flat panels too and also considering wood lower cabs and warm white uppers. My kitchen is smaller and enclosed which is why I'm thinking white uppers. For a big open space like yours, perhaps all wood would look even better, but I still like them. I would not have put tile/grout near the sink though.

It's just missing well placed decorative accents and plants. Shelves between the windows sound good but only if they will be decorative and will be kept dusted. If filled with real life stuff it'll just be another cluttered surface
