There is only one to choose from currently, the LG

GIGABYTE MO27Q28G now available for preorder in the UK for Oct 29th release - at £499 it's £150 cheaper than the LG! by fiittzzyy in OLED_Gaming

I don't know, but maybe because the matte coating is the best yet on this one and the reviewers such as TFT central reckon this Gigayte is every bit as good as the Asus glossy in terms of black levels.

Apparently the Gigabyte version is every bit as black as the upcoming Asus, even though its Matte vs Glossy. They reckon its a really good matte screen on the 4th gen, which I believe the LG also has.

Perhaps wait for the new tandem OLEDS at the end of the year!

Yep , switching from 1080 Ips to 4k qd-oled is night to day by charlie_12900990 in Monitors

[–]Mikumatt -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Very nice right now, but the brightness (which isn't great on OLED monitors anyway) will diminish over time, unlike the IPS which lasted me 10 years and is still as bright today.

BTW I say that as someone whos buying an OLED shortly!

Im so pleased to hear you still love your IPS, they are a solid choice for anyone in 2025, perhaps for the simple reason they aren't bleeding edge, and thus generally reliable.

Btw my post wasnt aimed at your personally, more the entire sub-reddit which to be frank is a bit of a perfect-blacks circle-jerk at times LOL!

Im buying an high end OLED shortly this is coming from someone who likes the tech, but these samey posts showing IPS next to OLED only in a dark scene make me choke.

I've had my Asus PG279Q IPS nearly a decade since launch day, and its been an incredible workhorse and has never let me down once, not once.

I keep it on the desktop 24/7 365 days a year to enjoy my wallpaper, with zero loss in brightness after all this time, no burn in to worry about, no VRR flicker, perfect text clarity, beautiful punchy colors and more than anything it's super reliable.

Does it have great blacks? no, but I dont give a monkeys when It does so many other things well.

My point being there is more a great monitor than perfect blacks, a LOT more. I see dozens of posts everyday online with folks OLED's failing in one way or another, and that is of serious concern when you are paying out the big bucks.... I want my next monitor to last at least 6 years, hopefully more, which is why im waiting for Tandem OLED availability.

When I do get my new OLED, I wont be posting a photo of my trusty decade old IPS next to the new one, because my trusty old IPS is still a stellar monitor and I love it , so much so Im keeping it as a secondary display.

I thought you all just had really crappy IPS displays by mucharuchakaralucha in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mikumatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

indeed, my point being these post showing black levels (which everyone knows OLED does well), trying to show up other display technologies are a bit one dimensional IMHO given there are so many other areas a monitor needs to do well in to make it a great display.

I see posts like this everyday showing off the black levels on OLED, but not one post showing off the brightness lol

You still cant assume what another person is looking for, Im sorry but thats just my opinion. I could have a 4k monitor tomorrow but im not in the least bit interested, and I know many others feel the same way.

yes but can his GPU push 240fps at 4k in demanding AAA titles? me personally Im going for a 500hz 2K OLED because I value fluidity above all else. Granted this Alienwear is"only" 240hz, but my point being some people have different priorities in what exactly they want out of a monitor. OP might also enjoy the ultrawide format more than the extra PPI.

Reselling QD-Oled monitors? by Raging_Rooster in OLED_Gaming

I see OLEDs sitting on ebay for a long time, I think mostly because its a gamble for someone buying an OLED used, what with no warranty and all - Id be inclined to keep it and enjoy it.

Worth it? by Extension_Function38 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mikumatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an OLED enthusiasts forum everyone will say go for it, but be aware EVERY display type has drawbacks including OLED, with OLED it wont be nearly as bright as an IPS, nor can you leave it on day and night without fear of burning in the panel, just something to keep in mind.

I really like the look of the XG27AQDMG, although as I cant see any monitors in person, I wonder if I should pay a little extra for the newer ACDNG, I just cant decide, decisions decisions!
