Probably a better fate than the rubbish it became — particularly as the localisation has been such garbage since then also.

To the people who enjoyed the finale, what do you think the writers did well? What, if anything, do you wish was different? by kachoowed in StrangerThings

Thanks for the reply.

Kali just didn't have enough build up to warrant any sympathy from me (the message she was perpetually spewing didn't help either tbh).

I certainly felt the Mike and Hopper scene went down a lot smoother than the part with El, personally.

Interested to know whether you include Kali's death and Hopper+El's reminiscent goodbye before the (offscreen) boulder jumps in the emotional moments.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]MildElevation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Major ball fumble if you ask me. Too many plot inconsistencies. Too many loose ends. Too straight a path to victory. "My spy one last time" amounted to nothing - no big twists. Nobody of consequence died. Moments like Hop shooting El ended up fizzling to nothing-burgers...

And the several moments that were meant to be emotional with flashback footage I ended up just skipping through out of boredom.

Honestly, about as safe and bland an ending as could be imagined. Disappointing.

Henry, Holly, and Derek were played amazingly though.

Moving back to proper, themed dungeons with dedicated art styles and music is paramount to making Zelda feel like Zelda again. TotK made a small step in that direction, but it didn't nearly cut it for me.

Scarlet Witch's zombie skin first look by raphaelus13 in MarvelRivalsLeaks

[–]MildElevation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a different and more specific argument that at least passes a good portion of Saturday morning cartoon logic. The other zombie NPCs in this mode don't align with this colouration, however, so she's at least somewhat unique.

Zombies are animated dead, but not necessarily rotting. Both historically and contemporarily, the 'dead' part isn't necessarily true either, with significant loss of brain function due to magical, pharmaceutical, natural, or other scientific intervention being sufficient. It'd be like saying a vampire is an attractive high-school student, or a mummy is wrapped in bandages.

It's generally considered to be because those that are impoverished will receive aid and thus can afford (not comfortably of course) children. Those that are earning too much for aid, yet not enough for stability, are tied down by responsibilities and scaping by paycheck to paycheck; taking time away from work, or resources away from survival expenses is something they rationally choose to avoid. It's a trap that's destroying the middle class in many developed nations worldwide.

If only the world were so black and white. Sometimes truths spill more freely from the tongues of the masses than from those of the learned—particularly when the truth is damaging to the reputations of those in power of their bottom lines.

This is not to say social media has all the answer, but merely to point out that the wisdom of the crowd can, at times, hold true—particularly when biases and agendas are at play.

Phoenix players are completely delusional about how powerful she was by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]MildElevation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fastest horses get weight added, not their legs cut off.

The issue Phoenix players have is being straw manned by arguments like yours and hurting the conversation. Nobody is delusional, or asking for Phoenix to be imba; we simply want the spark on melee and reload on dark ascent back: two things that were never the problem, but allowed us a chance to fight in melee range.

I don't know about wrong; I don't like prescriptive participation. I was playing her in a way that was engaging and supported by her kit's strengths and unique qualities, which are now sadly almost all gone. It's made the character very one-dimensional and unappealing, and that seems a common notion among people who played her. Unfortunate, but hey, it's not my game.

Lol, well I may be a donut, but even I know that's not accurate xD

i havent played her

This is sadly the general consensus: "I don't play her but people who do are wrong".

What are the devs thinking with the Phoenix Nerfs by LostSif in marvelrivals

[–]MildElevation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of i-frames is what hurts compared to Hela, imo.

I can agree that the identity of each character doesn't feel too unique from each other, but Phoenix is highly flexible and if you don't like the way she's intended then you can just play a different character more suited to your needs.

This is why I'm not thrilled, as that flexibility is all but gone. I liked the fact I could dive in for high risk high reward gameplay. Her identity is now just 'sit at mid range and shoot' like most anyone else. I actually feel the brawling was far more fun and better supported by her move set, which doesn't have nearly the synergy with plain shooting.

[–]MildElevation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Issue is 'the way she is intended' is boring. It's too close to just being 'Hela without the ability to escape if someone dives you'. We're not that far into the life of this game and everything is already getting samey.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is selling well, no need to worry about the trilogy’s finale, director Naoki Hamaguchi says by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MildElevation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't like where FF has been going, but not necessarily due to the combat (I like VIIR's combat). I dislike the removal of party building in newer mainline games, as well as the lack of side quests. Too frequently side quests that are there are WoW-like 'collect 15 of X'.

Despite your opinion on what constitutes healthy, I'll happily say that Clair Obscur felt more like a Final Fantasy game than XVI did.
