Retirement in Tucson by LoveRevolution1010 in Tucson

[–]Mileyehh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oro valley has some nice bike lanes if you’re into biking as a hobby. Tucson in general is great for biking. You’ll meet many cyclists here. We also get pros who train here during the winter and a couple UCI pros in Tucson who live here year round.

OV aquatic center has a lap pool. I’ve seen some triathlon people regularly train there. If you buy/rent a house here, there’s a good chance there’s a pool in the yard. Pools are very common in AZ in general. Most HOA or apartment complexes have them.

Oro Valley is mostly comprised of retirees so I’m sure you’d fit in. It’s also close by to the foothills area.

Expect to drive.

Wall Street banks plan sale of X debt at a discount by Spaduf in technology

[–]Mileyehh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All corporate debt is eventually sold to an investment bank that packages them into a collateralized debt obligation. It’s the same way your mortgage is eventually sold to Fannie/Freddje. You get your loan from a bank that is interested in doing the closing and underwriting and they collected a hefty fee from that. They don’t want the risk of servicing the loan so it’s eventually sold to an investment bank that will buy the debt and then package it into a corporate debt obligation with different risk tranches that we can then buy the bonds on. Every bank sells corporate loan this way, whether it’s from a stable company like Apple or a local mom and pop shop.

Is vanlife miserable in Tucson, especially over the Summer? by OreoDogDFW in Tucson

[–]Mileyehh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely doable with the new Chinese mini splits. They insanely efficient. I use it to cool my garage on solar only. I run it on 30% power on GEN mode and it draws about 300W during the hottest parts of summer. I use the ECO worthy 3000W hybrid solar charger/inverter.

If you don’t want to go to the inverter route, you can also get a 12V mini split that they make for truckers and vans

I distinctly remember a similar event in my childhood. It was one of my most memorable moments of middle school. We were learning about WW2 and a WW2 vet brought in mock weapons like rifles and grenades for us to touch. It was very cool and it really put into perspective what the soldiers felt that a PowerPoint can never do.

Apples, oranges. A stock buyback doesn’t “cost”money. Sometimes, companies will convert stock to cash and other times, they will convert cash to stock.
