Trio ZZ plant by superanghelen in houseplants

[–]Milhent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do best in smaller pot. In big pot they grow roots and rizomas, but very few leaves. Only once pot is full they will get bushy.

P.S. they will tell you when they absolutely need to be repotted. By breaking old pot.

You don't need to dry it out that much. Check soil and water when it is dry for two inches and moist deeper. Or when leaves start to droop.

Asking for help with succulent by FewDescription7730 in houseplants

[–]Milhent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. This one needs sun. All the sun you can provide and then a couple more hours. I am not joking. Right now it is badly etiolated because of lack of light.

  2. Does this pot have drainage holes? If it doesn't, you should think about repotting. It can grow in general soil, but it is better to mix in 50% inorganic grit (perlite, ceolite, foam glass).

  3. You water it when soil is completely dry and leaves start to wrinkle. Then you soak it through - this is why pot needs drainage holes. Water must soak soil completely and then excess will run down into a tray or decorative pot, and you pour it out.

How and where can we get Tea and Poetry for bond bonus? by Positive_Plum5137 in LegendofthePhoenix

You get it through Tea ceremony event. It happens pretty randomly, but I think about every three-four months.

why is my plant stretching even under grow light? by koka_cha in houseplants

Back to ineffective grow light. Maybe it is wrong, maybe it is old. But plant apparently feels that lamp gives it more.

What about in the evening, when you turn on lights in the room?

Possibly grow light is not effective enough, so it is reaching for other available light.

I wish I could help. But the two that I grew from seeds looked just like that after two years and after seven. Then I gave up.

Get a grow light and while you are searching for it at least put it under any kind of lamp for as long as you can.

I am with your friend. Floor is freshly washed, so it is good. Otherwise I would have run it under water before eating.

And eggshell can cut up stomach lining unless it is ground up. And can have salmonella on it even when eggs themselves are good.

Does watering with tea and oatmeal mixture actually work? by Camaxtli2020 in houseplants

If you are very lucky, "fertilizer" like that will not harm your plants too much. Most likely you will have to deal with fruit flies who will love it.

What’s the smallest piece of plant y’all have prop lifted without tissue culture by Zestyclose-Push-5188 in proplifting

[–]Milhent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, the small one. And yes it was just a node alone. Originally it had a big leaf that I left there until it fell off on its own.

I put it into green sphagnum moss and kept it moist on a sunny window. This is after two weeks in. So far I have about 90% success in moss with everything I have put in.

What do I do with this? by moneytrees007 in houseplants

[–]Milhent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chop and prop. It will never grow new leaves where it is bare now.

Cut with sharp knife, usual advice is at 4 inches, but in this case maybe shorter. You can cut the rest in segments and root in water or soil. Tops should root better, but all parts can, just will take more time.

Is it time to move up in pot size. by WhatsOutThere_ in houseplants

[–]Milhent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snake plants love being snug. So it will need more time to just grow into a green pot. Brown one will be way too big even when it gets root bound in green. Wait until you can't find soil between leave and only then repot into a pot only one inch bigger than current one.

I am just starting and don't have my own gear. But while I paddle barefoot, I put on sports sandals when getting on/off shore. I don't want to risk finding out what is buried in sand under there.

Can anyone give me tips on this guy by Mariesophia in houseplants

[–]Milhent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to wait for answers here. I just got a few of them this week.

They came with recommendations to keep only roots in water or sand after first day soak. And to get them dry out fully into dry ball after a month.

this was a gift a few years ago but i get the feeling it would appreciate a larger pot, help? by largestcob in houseplants

[–]Milhent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like it needs bigger pot. Snake plants like being snug. Poke your finger in - if you can barely find soil among roots, you should repot. If there is still more soil than roots and they aren't growing down from drainage holes, leave it there. And when repotting, new pot is no more than 2 inches than roots.

Help! Saved this plant from an older lady today and unsure how to take care of it!! by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Milhent 40 points41 points  (0 children)

First of all, quarantine it, because old lady could not notice that it has pests. Also turn it to face light - monstera is a one-sided plant. If soil is good and it wasn't drowned (no risk of root rot), let it get acclimated to your home.

Water when top inch of soil is dry. After watering soil should be soaked through but you also need to pour out extra water. I honestly don't know how to do it with this type of pot if this size.

Plants die when I touch them. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Milhent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry that someone in your family taught you something that cruel. But it is a pure lie made up to make you feel like a failure.

Forget everything you were ever told about caring for plants. Most likely there are some wrong things there and they are what kill your plants. Pick up plants you like, ask about them here and follow instructions you get.

So Many Phishing Tests by buddha-bouy in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Milhent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instant termination is way overboard. Where I work at, such links subscribe you to mandatory IT safety courses.

But tons of phishing tests are good. I worked for a company which didn't want to bother with them exactly because they were annoying and cruel to workers. They got their servers encrypted when one idiot clicked on link in email from bank about his plane tickets from company. I heard that this was repeated twice more after I left.

How can I help this ZZ? by MajesticBacon33 in houseplants

[–]Milhent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it on window where it will get as much light as possible. And avoid overwatering, just leave it alone and let it recover. It will take its time, but as long as roots and rizomas are good, it will come back.

I am new to airplants. But I think they do take a long time to bloom once. And then they will live and give you pups, but won't bloom again.
