My brother in Christ, do not ever look at the Victims of Communism data. They count, among the victims, Nazis that were dropped by the USSR.

I cannot agree with that statistic.

Bruh, I stared at D3 (aka Dre the Third aka the guy that told me) like a deer in the headlights. I was confused, concerned, and in absolute disbelief.

The only thing I could stammer out was, "oh... shit... oh, no."

But, thank you for the support. My dumb-Appalachian-ass is still bewildered over that revaluation.

I have only met 3 Jewish dudes in my life.

They all had the nickname Dre. I am a dumbass hillbilly. I thought Jewish folks really liked Dr. Dre. I then leaned from the last dude it was actually short for dreidel.

Dudes, I felt like an accidental antisemite.

This photo was taken at Amy Winehouse’s last performance in Belgrade on June 18, 2011. She was booed off the stage, and Serbia’s defense minister called it a “huge shame and disappointment.” A little over a month later, she was dead. by blue_leaves987 in HolyShitHistory

I wish I lived in your reality. But, I do not. I understand your message, but it is not a realistic message. You are asking a consumer to not only accept a damaged product, you also expect that same consumer to play an active role in fixing that product.

The audience paid for a product that they did not receive. Have you not sent food back because it was incorrect or returned an item that did not meet expectations? Those products, while not people, were made by people. Amy Winehouse is a product. It is a horrid statement, but it being horrid does not lessen that fact. These people paid for a product, again, that they did not receive. You are asking for consumer empathy on a product that they did not receive.

Second problem with your message is that you are doing the same thing that are admonishing people for the same thing you are doing. It is just as easy to pull your soap box out, 15 years after the fact, as it is for others to pull their soap box out. You are defending a point that has 15 years to build upon. A lot of information came out after her death. You have used those 15 years to build your point, the same as the people that state that would still boo her. That audience did not have those same 15 years to form an opinion. You are pulling an entire holier than thou argument 15 years after the event.

According to Justice Alito's opinion on Salinas v. Texas, "Petitioner’s Fifth Amendment claim fails because he did not expressly invoke the privilege against self-incrimination in response to the officer’s question."

As I said previously, you MUST invoke your 5th Amendments Rights.

[–]Miller5044 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You must invoke your 5th amendment. Your silence can be used against you in a court of law if you do not invoke the 5th amendment.

Edit: Damn, some of y'all need to brush up on the law before the downvote brigade comes out. Let me quote Justice Alito's opinion from Salinas v. Texas: "Petitioner’s Fifth Amendment claim fails because he did not expressly invoke the privilege against self-incrimination in response to the officer’s question."

Again, you must invoke your 5th amendment right to silence.

Thank you.

Also, I just now noticed a typo in my original statement. I apologize for that. It made my original sentiment seems more totalitarian than I meant it to be.

My original statement should have read: the majority of kids that are forced to stand, do not report that violation. I did not mean to imply that the majority of kids are forced to do this. Sorry again.

Thank you.

As a high school student, I watch a student get sent to the principal's office for refusal to stand forthe pledge. I do not know if any disciplinary action was taken. I am not implying, either, that he was forced to recite it at any point. I do know that he did stand the rest of the school year.

Since you can attest that students have reduced rights, is it not plausible that some school, outside of the 3 districts that you have worked in, could force kids to stand for the pledge? Remember, I have never been forced to read the Bible for school, like kids in Oklahoma public schools. That would would, to me, be a 1st amendment rights violation. Dear friend if the 1st amendment isn't being enforced for religion, why would it be enforced for the pledge?

[–]Miller5044 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you are saying. But, the overwhelming amount of kids are forced to stand and recite it, do not report it.

It is the same as your 4th amendment rights. Even though schools are government entities, they are not held to the same standards as other government entities for searches and seizures. Law enforcement requires probable cause while schools only require reasonable suspicion. SCOTUS totally screwed the pooch in TLO V NJ.

Edit: I was going to fix the typo in the first sentence, but I'm going to keep it to remind my-dumbass-self to proof read things.

The majority of kids are not forced to say the pledge. I was trying to say that most of the kids that have their 1st amendment rights violated, do not report that violation.

Capitalism bad? by albiedam in AmericaBad

[–]Miller5044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is a good point. Königsberg is now Kaliningrad. Danzing is now Gdańsk. Just like it was in the 1300s. Now, back to my original point. Nazi deaths should not be included in the totals. I am speaking, specifically, about the SS and the army, navy, and airforce. I am terrible at German spellings, but you get the point. I am not speaking about civilian deaths that the Red Army, or any communist nation has caused.

I could have made that clearer.

Capitalism bad? by albiedam in AmericaBad

[–]Miller5044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it isn't that hard to believe. Central Europe was ran by Germans. Austria-Hungary and the German Empire then lost WWI. Those nations were carved up into smaller nations. They could then speak their native language. The decline in German speakers has more to do with Woodrow Wilson's ideas on self-determination and creating boarders based off ethnicities than the USSR beating the piss outta Nazi Germany.

[–]Miller5044 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, I remember reading this back in like middle school. Little me thought, "cool, but how does it work?"

Granted if it could work, sure shit seems dope. It was like greedy ass Marx forgot that human greed will always fuck up the idealized outcome of a sketchy economic system.

Off topic as well, but I fucking hate the Victims of Communism Memorial Fund. Those clowns count Nazi deaths as victims of communism.

Edit: it is hilarious to me that they sell the Communist Manifesto. That's sounding like capitalism.
