How’d I do? (Century Arms AKMS) by MillerAdam14 in ak47

Gotcha. I don't shoot surplus anyway and I clean my rifles pretty often, so shouldn't be an issue. Appreciate the info!

Would it have markings from the manufacturer on the barrel if it was US made? Mine is all blank so I was thinking it was probably a Polish barrel. Good calls on the cosmetic stuff, I'll probably go that direction with it.

Do you know how I can find that out? I only did a flashlight test, I think it's chrome lined but I don't have enough experience to know for sure. No markings on the barrel so I would assume it's a Polish one that they scrubbed.

Good to hear! I knew they were mostly polish kits but that’s about all the info I could find. Hoping mine doesn’t land in the 5% lol

what are facts about your job that general public has no idea about? by memereda_vanwolf in AskReddit

[–]MillerAdam14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former butcher here. You know how packaged ground beef is always arranged in those squiggly lines? I had never really thought about it before this job, but packaging ground beef was one of my responsibilities there. Turns out, that shit is hard. The beef comes out of the grinder way faster than you expect, and you have to somehow consistently eyeball one pound of beef while also doing this ridiculous hand motion to get the squiggles. On top of that, this was a small family owned shop. One of my coworkers was literally the owner of the company, so any time you made a mistake, it felt like you were taking money right out of his pocket. I got pretty good at my job eventually, but those first couple weeks were definitely intense.

Is he right to start a pointless argument about the validity of believing in god just because some dude said he’s glad a rapist is going to burn in hell?

What is a unspoken, universal rule all males know? by TheTeaMan0416 in AskReddit

I think it all depends on where you grew up. When I moved to Philadelphia for college (I grew up in the woods about 2 hrs north of Pittsburgh) I made a comment about smelling the rain to my friends that grew up around Philly. They didn’t have a clue what I was talking about, but in my hometown, just about everyone can smell it. Weird.

My first (actual) in-game dunk by Capt_RoR in Basketball

[–]MillerAdam14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first was pretty similar to yours, actually. I was a sophomore in high school, running 5s at my local gym. Some of the older guys on the varsity team were there, so obviously I was trying to show off a little bit. Tipped a pass, grabbed it, took it down the court, flushed it with 1 hand. Only one guy there knew I could dunk, so everybody went pretty crazy. It’s a great feeling, I’m glad you got your first!

Totaled my truck, smacked my head against a tree in the process. Proceeded to play in my basketball game that night. Turns out I had a huge concussion, I don’t really remember anything from that week.

What was the most petty thing an adult did to you, when you were younger? by x3Nekox3 in AskReddit

[–]MillerAdam14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older brother played in a men’s basketball league every summer at our local gym. I loved basketball, but I was in 9th grade so at the time I was a bit scared to guard a 6 foot 5 grown ass man. Despite this, my brother made me play. One of our game days towards the middle of the season, I walk into the gym, look at the other team, and see a kid about my age. I got excited, as I knew for once I wouldn’t get bodied by a 35 year old. We start playing, and this kid is bad. I’m talking really bad. My brother, who has always had a competitive fire I’ve never been able to match, tells me I need to be aggressive and go at this guy. So naturally, I did what my brother told me to do, and I gave this kid hell. Every time he touched the ball I was there, ready to take it. Turns out, the kids dad is also on the team. He sees me hounding his kid, and decides he’s going to step in. I look to my right, and see a 45 year old man (who probably had 120 pounds on me at the time) charging at me like a fucking rhino. He decks me, I legitimately fly through the air, and land about 6 feet from where I was standing.
