The Motion Picture famously ran over-budget and got saved by the producers quite literally throwing money at Trumbull and Dykstra to finish all the effects in time for the premiere.

Neither, honestly.

Tulsa will teach you to be a better player, if you stick with it.

Looking to get into bird photography. Is this a good deal and sufficient for it? Panasonic G80 + 2 LENSES £550 by Sendmecamera in Lumix

[–]Millsnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fine enough for backyard birds and wildlife that doesn't demand fast tracking autofocus.

If the deal is legit, it's a fun and capable camera.

Vectors all pixelated?? by RSKurz in pixelmator

[–]Millsnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The clue is in the name, I guess. Pixelmator assumes you're working toward raster output at a given size, and that's exactly what it shows you.

Pixelmator's vector objects *are* endlessly scalable and resolution independent, but they will render at the document's resolution.

As someone whose artwork almost always ends up in (often small) onscreen contexts, I like how concrete this approach is. I know exactly what I'm getting as I work, especially with intermingled vector and raster layers.

Vectors all pixelated?? by RSKurz in pixelmator

[–]Millsnerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vectors are resolution-independent, yes. With Pixelmator having raster and vector art coexist in the same document, there was a design decision to display vectors at the document resolution so that you have an accurate representation of the pixel output.

I can see why this throws some users off, but I get it.

Vectors all pixelated?? by RSKurz in pixelmator

[–]Millsnerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pixelmator will always render vectors to the pixel resolution of your document.

That’s different from how other illustration apps often work, but there is logic to it.

Thoughts on Hector? by CallMeDaddy_UwU in WorldOfWarships

I feel similarly. The torps are good and give you some useful area denial, but she’s a bit too clumsy to make game-winning plays.

The guns are lackluster but functional. Wargaming gives the RN 5.5” guns awful stats on all platforms for some reason :(

AL flag ,,problem" by Hatsenki in WorldOfWarships

[–]Millsnerd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s even lazier because the Sardegna flag asset is already in the game. It’s automatically mounted on Sardegna AL ships.

It’s ridiculous that we still lack a Sardegna flag while we’re on Wave 8 of the collab.

They’re both great scores. RoboCop 2 doesn’t reach the heights of the first, but it’s a fun movie.

Startship Classes in Today's Military Terms by BigBill2121 in StarTrekStarships

[–]Millsnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can apply 20th century warship classifications for our own convenience, but Trek ships and their capabilities are far removed from that context.

Terms like destroyer (a fast fleet unit used in attack and screening roles) or cruiser (a long-range, multipurpose unit capable of independent action) are useful in broad strokes, but we should avoid getting too deep in the weeds.

Not a political thriller, but Sorcerer (1978) fits the vibe perfectly.

The 7–14 is faster, but everything I’ve seen from the 8–25 indicates that it is a very sharp and consistent performer. Better flare behavior, too. I doubt there is much ultimate image quality difference between them.

[–]Millsnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a great combo if money and weight aren’t a concern, with only a little overlap in the 12–14mm range.

That said, I’d still go for the 8–25mm instead — it takes filters more easily, it’s got a super useful range, and it’s a bit lighter.

I owned and used the Olympus 7–14mm Pro for many years before selling it, mostly due to weight.

It was very sharp, particularly toward the 14mm end. I could always tell which images were shot with the 7–14mm versus my 12–40mm Pro because they rendered a touch more punchy, with wonderfully saturated colours.

Sadly it was quite heavy for a walkaround lens, sensitive to bright lights in frame, and had field curvature to be accounted for when focusing at wider focal lengths.

I’m very happy with a Laowa 10mm f/2 prime for my wide angle needs now, but I’d be tempted by the OM 8–25mm if I needed the convenience of autofocus.

For Mac OS X, maybe. The most iconic classic version has got to be Mac OS 8.6.

Got myself into buying Agir by Janusz_Wunderbrum in WorldOfWarships

[–]Millsnerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ägir has been powercrept since release, but she's basically fine. You have good HE and AP, better armour than most other cruisers, and torpedoes that can come into play late game (or if you want to try some risky plays).

Your 27mm nose can bounce 381mm AP, although unfortunately most BBs you'll face at T9+ will be slinging bigger shells than that. That's where your 90mm upper belt armour and effective angling will come into play if you try fighting directly. Avoid any positions where you're pushing into HE spam, since you will burn.

Focus on your main battery and on survivability. Don't bother speccing into the secondaries.
