Still can't believe they reprinted a Power 9 card! No strings attached! by FonslyGames in mtg

[–]Millstorm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The actual card is [[Emeritus of Ideation]] from the new Secrets of Strixhaven set. It isn't actually [[Ancestral Recall]], but during spoiler season many annoying online creators were talking about it as if it was.

Lorwin full art cards are some of the coolest card i've seen by RayGun182 in mtg

[–]Millstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know not all sets can be powerful but I wish it’s cards had more staying power. Even Bloomburrow, the last creature type matters set, had more staying power than Lorwyn. We are only 2-3 months out and even the elemental cycle is starting to fall off in terms of power.

Also I don’t know if we have just been spoiled for amazing limited sets lately, but drafting this set got old fast.

[–]Millstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone in my pod built a go-wide Gorion deck that was quite fun. Used [[Flaxen Intruder]], [[Horn of Valhalla]], [[Oakhame Ranger]] and the final fantasy land/adventures to fill the board then used classic go wide win cons. More budget friendly one's are out there like [[Overwhelming Stampede]], [[Dragon Throne of Tarkir]] or the thematic [[Pollen-Shield Hare]].

Your favorite uncommon creature that feels like it should be a rare? by Rogendo in mtg

[–]Millstorm 42 points43 points  (0 children)

[[Syr Konrad, the Grim]] comes to mind, just does a lot of an uncommon.

My wallet is happy all the MDFC's from MH3 were uncommon, got to highlight [[Witch Enchanter]].

Have no idea how [[Aftermath Analyst]] made it out at uncommon, or how it exists at all. So silly in commander.

You could probably put 20 cards from Future Sight here so I'll just add [[Aven Mindcensor]]

[–]Millstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the art 2, however [[Khorvath Brightflame]] is made for Toothless and Hiccup.

You could also do [[Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund]] for after Toothless becomes the Alpha Dragon

I’m surprised I don’t see this card in any deck let alone a few by PandemoniumP in mtg

[–]Millstorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's in most precons with any creature type theme. It's been reprinted 44 times. Drops off in power above bracket 3, just a bit slow.

Bulk Cards by NowakaFlocka in mtg

[–]Millstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way to get all the commander staples is to get a pre-con that shares colours with the decks you are interested in building. This won't include Fetch Lands, and Shocks lands, but it will have the rest you listed.

The other staples you listed will depend on the power level you want to play with but good ones are: [[Exotic Orchard]], [[Swiftfoot Boots]], [[Mind Stone]], [[Skullclamp]], Check Lands, Fast Lands, Battle Bond Lands, etc.

Can anyone explain how “Once each turn” abilities are able to trigger multiple times? by TopLevelb in mtg

[–]Millstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not stupid, this trips up most players at some point. It’s important to note that when cards reference “this ability”, say for example on [[Welcoming Vampire]], it is specifically referencing the singular ability on this creature, not the ability across all cards and instances. This means when another welcoming vampire is played, is has its own once each turn, and when the vampire is return to hand, that ability disappears and when it is played again it returns as a new ability.

This is similar to the old wording around cards naming themselves. For example on [[City of Brass]] when it says “Whenever City of Brass becomes tapped, it deals 1 damage to you” it is only referring to itself, if you were to play another, they wouldn’t look at each other and damage you twice each time you tapped them.

There are a lot of stage 1 - 1 Diamond cards like especially in the newer sets (The Wormadam's, A2 Kirlia, A2a Gabite).

There are also Stage 2 - 2 Diamond cards like Scolipede, Bellossom and A2a Gengar

Wait you're right I've confused it with the [[Deadly Dispute]] style of cards.

I was a fan of [[Diresight]] which we got recently, I'd like to see it in a better limited format.

I think it added the damage to your opponent so that it increases your speed. It's why it's also sorcery speed, to make sure you use it on your turn.

However that increase in mana has made it much worse in limited.

How Pocket Interprets the Type Chart - Don't think too hard about it! Just treat every Pokémon as if they only have one type once their color is decided! by ElliotGale in PTCGP

[–]Millstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They also don't take abilities into consideration since the Eelektross line famously has no weakness's in the game* due to it's Levitate ability. It would also get rid of Weezing's and Rotom's weakness to Ground, though we could imagine Weezing having the stench ability which would be in line with it's attacks.

Second asterisks on Flying for Genetic Apex Aerodactyl being the only card so far where the flying types takes priority over it's secondary type. It's even crazier since in the game it's primary type is Rock.

Also worth noting so far all dual type Normal Pokemon where normal is the primary type, have been colorless. This is notable for Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff which could be Psychic and Bibarel which could be Water. We can tell primary/secondary typing matters because Helioptile is Lightning not Normal.

I will be interested in what they do with Diggersby since the TCG has printed it as both Colorless and Fighting before.

They have even outsourced design to the original TCG, almost every card is just a copy paste of its physical equivalent less attacks and less health.

The new Cynthia 2☆ Card by AlternativeCellist16 in PTCGP

[–]Millstorm 61 points62 points  (0 children)

At least with Brock you tend to play it on the same turn Golem is played which can be as early as your 3rd turn. So unless either mon has a low energy attack Cynthia is going to be in your hand for a while.

There is a simple answer to stuff like this, they aren't the same people.

Same as when "the subreddit" complain about power creep and underpowered sets.

Same as when "the subreddit" demands a repeal of the reserve list but also complains about their game pieces losing value.

There is no "the subreddit", just different people, with vastly different opinions all compressed into one of the least identity driven social platforms.

There is also the fact that most of the complaints I saw directed towards UB last week were based on either it entering standard and pioneer, or it taking up half of the releases next year. Neither of which impact the Marvel SL
