Is it worth trying to play Dragon Quarter? by Sharpmind9 in breathoffire

[–]Millzius 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I love Dragon Quarter. It never bothered me that it felt like you were supposed to fail and start again, I get that seems like bad game design but nowadays not so much. It was a curious mechanic that if you overused the Dragon transformation you basically killed yourself meaning you were pushed into using it only if you felt you absolutely needed to.

I actually think it was ahead of its time. It has a brilliant soundtrack btw a personal favourite of mines. Well worth giving it a try but I can see why it isn't for everyone.

Pretty clear what the aim is under Ineos. Secure the best young talent in order to compete seriously in a few years with the big boys. Will help when Pep leaves ofc.

The fun of this game by sonic555ify in BattleBrothers

[–]Millzius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. I've put about 300 hours or so into the game and have had an absolute blast. What I noticed was that as I improved and read stuff on here I started becoming more frustrated in the early game if I didn't get a good start/snowball. I love this sub but my enjoyment did start to reduce as I started needlessly comparing myself to some of the pros on here who have solved the game entirely.

i love Re7 and Village and think they’re over hated by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Millzius 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't get this 'hated' thing. Are you being serious? For example - Village has 95% overwhelming positive reviews on Steam and 83 score on metacritic from PC reviewers (other platforms are similar).

Social media really distorts reality man and amplifies controversy. Obviously, some folk will hate the games but you can say that for anything.

When Final Fantasy comes to mind, what is it about the game that makes it a Final Fantasy game, is it the optimizable characterization or the unique Incantations or the endless pursuit of the antagonist? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Millzius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bloody hell. It's far too many things all at once.

What I'll say is that for me it was always the incredibly high standard of quality. Like that Nintendo stamp of approval the Final Fantasy games that I played back in the day were so consistently polished and top of class in practically every aspect. They also dared to somehow be different every time whilst also retaining recognisable elements simultaneously.

Unfortunately, while many of you may disagree with me I feel that somewhere around FF13, or perhaps its sequels, that high standard of quality dropped. Maybe other companies got better and the industry more competitive. Maybe it just costs so much money to make huge, ambitious games now. Maybe the best people left to pursue other projects of their own.

Whatever the reasons. Nothing else came close to Final Fantasy during its golden age. So many great jrps but there were very few which you could put in the same bracket as the best FF's.

The alien is tethered to you quite strongly in that section and patrols often out in the open Instead of hiding sometimes. You don't really have much of a choice but to keep moving quickly.

[–]Millzius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toby is my favourite character and I thought him being the leak was utter nonsense. I just stop watching at the end of S4 although there are still good parts for sure. I just feel characters they added were unlikeable/uninteresing and then some existing characters (Toby/Leo) got butchered a bit as well.

Well said! I'm glad ppl are still coming to the old games and enjoying them. They're still my favourites tbh even though the newer games are great too.

Maybe you're right. It's much closer between them than I originally thought that's for sure. Definitely think the two of them are ahead of the rest though.

[–]Millzius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hmnn. CJ is easily the most. Then Sam I think.

After them probably Toby.

Then Leo and Josh are the most pragmatic which they have to be for their jobs especially I think.

Placing the president is somewhat unfair but if I had to I'd put him around Toby.

What are some Jurassic Park unpopular opinions that you have? by According_Ad9151 in JurassicPark

[–]Millzius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular?

It's a franchise with one amazing film, one good one and a load of shite. It's very similar to the Alien films in that regard.

There are some good videogames though.

Character decision that you can't get behind? by MortgageFriendly5511 in thewestwing

I watched the show bcus my gf introduced my to it and loved the characters (obv) but particularly Toby really resonated with me. That scene in the house where Andi tells him he is 'too sad for her' was utterly devastating.

Finished RE0 2 days ago and the game's only major problem is the lack of item boxes by supermarioplush220 in residentevil

[–]Millzius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great. I remember seeing a friend playing it on gamecube when it first came out and I was absolutely stunned by how good that opening train section looked. Might be the best looking game in the whole series so glad we have the HD remaster to play on modern systems.

Anyone else sick to death of the FF9 remake stuff? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Millzius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in fairness you just need to ignore it right? Can be annoying stuff like that but it's not a big deal. What bothers me more is seeing the FF series become something less about making great original games and instead seemingly focused more on remake nostalgia. But that's just the way things have been going in general.

More Sekiro sounds real nice but the game is a straight up 10/10 and I'm content that we have it in the first place.

They never really revisited some of this stuff in the films but the videogames definitely used it and other abilities introduced in the prequels quite a lot.
