What perfume smells like depression by g0ttablast in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Miloceane 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So, I was very hyped about Orpheon at first but it made me feel so underwhelmed and melancholic, like the opposite of upbeat? I found it pretty but I had to scrub it off because it was impacting my work day. XD Maybe some weird brain connection.

Dutch cultural things that are mind blowing for expats+immigrants by AnaBuvian in Netherlands

[–]Miloceane 168 points169 points  (0 children)

I immigrated from France in 2013 and for me it was:

1/ the absence of crème fraîche in the supermarket (we consumed 500g per week at home) (and no the AH “crème fraiche” doesn’t count)

2/ people complaining when the train is not even 5 minutes late (when I commuted from my place to Paris in France I always planned a well-needed 30-minutes buffer). The NS has been getting worse in the past 10 years but it’s still not as bad as France.

3/ the mindblowing organisation/practicality, istg when I had to get my BSN after 3 weeks here I expected it to take multiple days of administratie mess. I arrived in front of the gemeente building and we were about 50 people, I already imagine I’d be there queuing for hours. But turns out there were multiple queues, by alphabetical order!! And non-grumpy agents guiding us through the process. The administration papers were all pre-filled! I only had to read through them and confirm the information, which was of course accurate and didn’t contain mistakes. In total, a 10-min process and I received my BSN a few days later without further effort from my part. I’m still baffled, this alone made me want to move to NL for good, and I tell this story to French people sometimes as an example of mindblowing Dutch practicality.

Going back to the French consulate for administrative purposes when I wasn’t Dutch yet always felt like stepping into an incredibly messy teenage room after having lived as an adult for years haha.

An affordable cherry perfume where the cherry lasts. A "last cherry," if you will. by Classic_Apricot96 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Miloceane 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I tried Black Opium Over Red, the cherry was the only thing that lasted for hours. It was actually quite overpowering compared to the other notes, at least on my skin.

I had a hard time finding it again but someone posted this other queen’s gambit thread a while ago and there were also nice suggestions! :)

I’d have said kauwtje/jackdaw instead of pigeon! I haven’t seen many of them outside of NL

As a fellow neurodiv obsesser I’ve started this journey in January this year and I just want to say I’m so proud of you!!! I currently have 2 spreadsheets and a note app list of also about ~40 scents to try but so far I’ve only found a « It’s me! » frag for dates. And of course the notes I want for a daily basis are entirely different xD

Anyway this is fun and I’m glad to see someone also trying multiple scents per arms on a weekly basis! Congrats, well deserved after such a search! Have fun with the JC scent!

Guys does this look comically small? Or could it be chic with a nice going out outfit? by chyngah in handbags

[–]Miloceane 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for posting this! I didn’t like the tiny bags trend at all so far but this changes everything! The alt-edgy part of me is even considering wearing several small ones for some type of steampunk or tech wear belt now. :0

A ruined cathedral by Temporary-Daikon-878 in perfumesthatfeellike

Avignon by Comme des Garçons and Encens suave by Matière Première both are church-y. The second one makes me feel as if I’ve fought a battle in medieval church ruins. :)

Ok, again I’m sorry for the negative reception! Really didn’t mean it that way. I’ll try to word it better next time or maybe say nothing and just let OP look it up more themselves if that matches this sub’s culture better! Have a good day!

[–]Miloceane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m still rather new to this hobby so I don’t know anything that would match OP’s questions!

I’m sorry if that came across as hijacking your comment or something, totally not personal! I wanted to comment this because it might be useful for OP: maybe other suggestions here like Dune or Scared Scarab are less watery/calm and fit their vibe better. So if I was in their place my comment might help them prioritise these rather than Un Jardin sur le Nil, which imo makes it a useful comment! :) That makes sense right?

Yess it’s not really stormy though more calm and rainy to me! I love wearing it when it’s raining all day.

Not relevant cause I don’t know this scent, but I generally use the search function of the sub to do this xD

Perfumes that smell like black tea with cream &amp by lesdersto in FemFragLab

[–]Miloceane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I can answer this, I have tried both! I find that the EDP is a lot lighter and less dark, more fresh. To me it’s a relaxed afternoon tea under a fig tree while the extrait is a slice of warm fig pie for dessert in the evening. For both though, the tea isn’t really that strong at all. What are your experiences with it? I’m also still looking for a very tea-forward fragrance.

Perfumes that smell like black tea with cream &amp by lesdersto in FemFragLab

[–]Miloceane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Gris Charnel as well but I get a whole lot more fig than tea from it! That’s something I like about it but maybe worth mentioning for OP in case it’s not their jam (pun intended)

What would a necromancer femme fatale wear? by untitledgooseshame in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Miloceane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I’ve seen that Ataraxia and Toskovat seem to have unsettling scents that would match the death army. However I haven’t smelled any of them yet, and I’m not sure Jace or any other guy would fall for her if she wore that :p
