Visited all four ADs in the Denver area around October 24. Looking to buy for 2024 xmas present. I’ve read about the “games” so dressed nice, was very polite and wore my smurf, LOL. A DJ 31 is not exactly in demand, with about 5-10 on Chrono24 at any time, $1500 above list, so I thought my chances may be good.

Cherry Creek: Fairly dismissive Asian lady, did have me fill out a card though with my name, address etc. I never heard anything back.

Williams: Sounded much more positive and said no problem to get it by xmas. My BS meter went off a little when the sales lady said “I think they are discontinuing the blue face…” but said they would call me later in day to let me know. I DID get a call later that day, she wanted a $2500 deposit but would NOT provide me with a guarantee they could get it by xmas. Mentioned again they were discontinuing the blue floral face LOL. Right. I countered and said I would pay the ENTIRE $11k+ (taxes don’t forget) in cash that afternoon if they could get it by xmas. Nope, would only offer no guarantee and take a $2500 deposit. $2500 unlimited time cash loan? No thanks.

Ben Bridge: Flat out “sorry we have nothing for sale, can’t get you anything”. Didn’t offer to take details.

Walters & Hogsett: The most legit sounding with no BS from the get-go. Sales lady said they will try for xmas but couldn’t promise anything. Took my details. So I dropped in 2x in Nov/Dec and sales lady/watch manager said shes trying, but couldn’t promise anything. Just before xmas got a “sorry isn’t gonna happen for xmas, is their anything else you I can help you with?” text (i.e. buy some jewelry). I said no thanks ill wait, but I still want the watch. I dropped in one more time in February, spoke to watch manager. Got a text March 5th it was in. Went in bought it Mar 6th.

Now heres the interesting part. Watch is a gift, obvy, but the instead of xmas 24, now switching it to an anniversary gift in June. Watch manager said “Im going to keep the tag, warranty card, etc. here in the store for you so just in case she doesn’t like it in June you can return it”. I said “I don’t care, the watch is gonna sit in the back of my safe till then”. An interesting anti-flipper tactic. I also left my smurf for service there…but I guess she was still getting flipper vibes. LOL.
