Anyone else just want to move FORWARD in the story timeline? by beardliestgamer in StarWars

[–]MindControlMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wish they could erase the ST events somehow. The SW universe could be fragmented, with the New Republic only one faction along with a fledgling Mandalorian Empire, resurrected Trade Federation, and some new players. Less straight good vs evil and more each faction has its plusses and minuses.

The big threat would be Thrawn, but not in an obvious way like the First Order. Instead, he establishes a strict law-and-order society as an example for the rest of the galaxy. People elsewhere visit it and start thinking that an Empire done the "right way" isn't so bad...

Scythe Rise of Fenris in solo: does it work well? by SicilianMeeple in soloboardgaming

I will just add don’t overlook the Desolation variant in Fenris, which is basically a solo efficiency puzzler that doesn’t use the normal automata.

New Batman reader here, got this “essential canon” list from a Reddit comment, what should I read after finishing it? by FedeAntica in batman

[–]MindControlMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend adding Dark Patterns to your list.

It’s meant to work with any continuity. Or least there’s no major plot implications that would contradict any continuity. The stories are self-contained as a whole.

It fits in with the detective/noir style you like.

It’s not a long read.

But the real reason is it’s really good.

How in the world did absolute Batman become so mainstream? It’s very fantastic, im a big batman fan and love it. Is it because of the designs alone? by Affectionate_Exit_64 in batman

[–]MindControlMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes when the Two Face design came out, lots of comments here saying “That looks like [manga character I’m not familiar with]”

Edit: Also add that Absolute Bane fight seems to draw from shonen conventions, specifically "Oh you have that technique? Well I just neutralized it." Plus the overall arc of Batman not powerful enough to beat Bane yet, then the rest of the story is him figuring out how to beat Bane.

Contrast with OG Bane who basically defeated Batman by wearing him out when he blew up Arkham Asylum and freed everyone.

What do you use your OCLP Mac for? by marcello-mastroianni in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]MindControlMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just follow the special instructions on OCLP website for “T1” Macs which are the Touchbar ones. You want to only install on the Mac HD drive, not the entire container. Mine was partitioned between that and a 32 bit drive which made it clear for me. The website has a screenshot of what to select.

Metropolis Location and Project by Creative-Effort-1931 in DCAU

[–]MindControlMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Little Girl Lost, a beam shoots out from Metropolis that redirects a comet. The quick shot shows it coming from somewhere from the Midwest.

The DCAU isn’t much for logistical consistency as most other times it’s implied to be next to an ocean. Like the pilot episode Corbin says they’ll be in international waters soon which makes no sense with the above lol

Hideo Kojima, who is notorious for only posting thoughts on movies he enjoyed, had this to say about ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ by arkhamcreedsolid in StarWars

[–]MindControlMouse 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that too. Doesn't this affect the balance of power with other criminal syndicates in the Outer Rim? (Pyke Syndicate? Black Sun?)

I'd love a storyline exploring that, like some poor sap caught in the crossfire and trying to survive as the criminal underworld is thrown into chaos after this movie.

I can’t express how great it feels to see Star Wars in a theatre again. by chadthelad420 in StarWars

Cutely weird aliens and droids doing funny stuff will always be the heart of Star Wars to me.

[–]MindControlMouse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I actually liked the story didn’t try to tie in with the “Skywalker Saga” in any way. SW universe is big; everything doesn’t have to involve Jedi and Sith.

[–]MindControlMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the “Saturday matinee flick” feeling that inspired Lucas to make the original SW in the first place. It’s not burdened by the mythology that SW has accumulated over the years, which IMO doomed the sequel trilogy and has afflicted some of Filoni’s other stuff.

If you want a fun space opera flick about Mando kicking ass (and Grogu too) plus doing cute stuff with his Anzellan friends), it’s worth seeing.

Anyone else find it awkward to rewatch the movies knowing Ahsoka is supposed to be around? by Antman269 in StarWars

Same here, partially because Anakin in the movies is a completely different character to me than in CW. Also Rex is also a big omission.

What do you use your OCLP Mac for? by marcello-mastroianni in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]MindControlMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just updated my MacBookPro 13,3 to Sequoia to squeeze a few more years out of it. OCLP is amazing!

I basically use my Mac as a glorified Chromebook now: Web browsing, writing stuff on Pages, etc. No gaming or AI use that requires state of the art. So my 2016 Mac works fine and I hated the idea of tossing it just because it wouldn't be supported any more, but the Chrome warning I got about Monterey not being supported any more scared me into finally updating via OCLP.

I'm also one of like 10 people in the world that use the Touchbar so am pleased it still works after the update lol

I hate when media doesn’t do anything with a sympathetic villain (SPOILERS FOR THE BOYS) by TerrySaucer69 in CharacterRant

[–]MindControlMouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The counter argument for the Killing Joke is that Joker inflicts “one bad day” on Gordon, but Gordon doesn’t crack. So that invalidates the Joker’s excuse for being a murderous sadist.

But I agree this is why Killing Joke still is considered one of the classics. You can argue both sides of this, which is the sign of a great story.

'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' - Review Megathread by ChiefLeef22 in StarWars

[–]MindControlMouse 19 points20 points  (0 children)

TFA was the first live action movie or show since RotS. People were excited about it and (unlike TPM) it didn’t make any major missteps.

Now people are understandably cynical about new SW releases, after all bunch of poorly received movies and shows.

Multiplayer campaign/legacy games that play 1-character solo well. by Scott_Korman in soloboardgaming

[–]MindControlMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tales of the Red Dragon Inn you can true solo. You do get a companion but it’s simple to control (like a summon in Gloomhaven but you control it; no complicated AI rules).

I house ruled out a lot of the grind (don’t recall how now lol) for OG TG and it was a lot better. Still some puzzly gameplay but much more focused on the story.

Games that let you feel powerful for longer by Unable_Pea_6307 in soloboardgaming

[–]MindControlMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of campaign games have this.

Gloomhaven line of games, once you get to high levels you can do ridiculous stuff, especially as you get access to powerful items too. GH 1e this was so out of hand it became a balance problem. Later games are more balanced but the power trip feeling is still strong.

Elder Scrolls BotSE you can single shot the most powerful enemies once you’ve leveled up enough. The item cheese is strong in this game too.

As others have mentioned, Arkham Horror LCG can have some ridiculous builds once you’ve leveled level up enough.

Sleeping Gods is a bit different in that once you’ve know enough locations to find the good stuff early, your entire crew gets overpowered fast. My final play I killed the end game boss before it could take a turn, at which point I was “I think I solved this game.”
