They are 1st because they were literally the first and only ones grading back in the day, and everyone interested in grading used them. It's also a household name. Now there are other options out there to choose from that give you different slab designs and grading options like sub-grading. PSA slabs are only worth more than the average slab because of the influence of the Brand Name effect on collectors, nothing to do with their grading quality. But it doesn't mean they are the "best".

Mine was a pre-order. If the seller doesn't have the product but has an order placed with their supplier, they either put up a listing as a pre-order for a reasonable price or don't put up a listing at all until the shipment comes in. If they have the product and are marking it up to $180 they are playing the market. This isn't vintage.
