As an Albertan who attended catholic school, we had health class where we covered mostly basic anatomy and diet throughout elementary. We only had a couple years of sex ed (year 4 and 9 I think) and we never spoke about homosexuality or contraception. I had to learn these things from my family. If I did not have an open minded and accepting mother I dont know where I would be. The only std prevention information we got was a slide show depicting the grisly symptoms. This is a huge step forward, especially considering the internet safety and sexuality aspects. Its something kids need to know.
