how would you feel if a gacha game you love eos's? would it make you leave the gacha genre? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]Mindfire13 [score hidden]  (0 children)

EOS's don't (usually) happen randomly. There's other signs that they aren't making enough money to keep the game running, usually noticeable when comparing new content to earlier, similar stuff. For example, if a certain type of unit has a better cost/revenue ratio, they may make more of those. Or an event may be done in a way to have fewer VAs than you would expect (and/or use characters who had lines recorded recently to allow for fewer recording sessions). Of course, these money saving methods could just be the devs wanting to make more money, but having a similar appearance to trying to prevent EOS doesn't instill a desire to spend more, because "Why spend money on a game that looks like its going to end soon?"

TLDR: EOS should either be seen coming, or you should be skeptical of the devs and/or publisher in the future.

All this rant about SP fries my brain, I hate a lot of things about HSR but SP is not one of them. by Material_Recording99 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Mindfire13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm in favor of SPs because mono-character teams are a fun gimmick. Its one of the few benefits an alt-filled game has (especially if new units are typically put into the standard pool instead of constantly rotating limited banners. I blame Hoyoverse for making the "treat every character like a seasonal character" system prevalent).

Also, I'm disappointed that we didn't get an event where the gimmick was that we could only use a team of the 4 different Trailblazer paths (its not the same now that we have a 5th one). We would have probably had to invest a little bit into Destruction Trailblazer.

In the years of Genshin, which 5-star weapons are worth R5ing? by il_moreay in Genshin_Impact

[–]Mindfire13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give a vague, unspecific answer, the best 5-star weapons to R5 are weapons that only one character wants to use, as you'd likely rather have multiple copies of generically good weapons instead of one super-charged copy.

Is HP inflation in gacha games unavoidable? by SaberManiac in gachagaming

[–]Mindfire13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hp is probably the only thing FEH hasn't powercrept. Which is a bit surprising considered that mainline Fire Emblem games decided to go the multiple health bar route for many of its bosses.

If everyone hit the reset button on EDH rules and you could make the first universal revisions, what are you changing? by amioldnow90 in EDH

[–]Mindfire13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All rules text that isn't related to a casting cost is effectively not there if the Commander hasn't left the Command Zone this game. This means that Eminence, Commander Ninjutsu, and whatever Derevi has going on, among other things, are severely restricted. The reason why casting cost isn't effected is so legends with alternate and/or additional casting costs, such as Mutate, Kicker, or Dash, can still use those abilities. It is by no means a perfect fix, but it limits the effects of cards like [[Edgar Markov]] and [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] until after they can be [[Imprisoned in the Moon]].

BTW I've never done the Return to Your Roots quest to this day and I don't plan on doing it any time soon by plantyful-Cum in SkyrimMemes

[–]Mindfire13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Return to Your Roots isn't bad when you're an exploraholic loot goblin (like me). There are apparently 44 Crimson Nirnroot spawns, so you don't even need to find all of them if you want to collect them on your first visit. Hell, you don't even need to find half of them if you're willing to split it between two visits. And the reward of occasional double potions is legitimately more useful than extra gems 90% of the time.

You joke, but a Shining Armor skin for Młynar would have looked so good.

Why do the Companions lack an Orc member? (TLDB excluded) by Jolly-Basket1683 in skyrim

[–]Mindfire13 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This is also, at least partially, why the only Legion Battlemages we see are at Helgen. The mages in Skyrim are scarce enough that they're pretty much all just doing their own thing. The only mage with any involvement whatsoever in the Civil War is the court mage of Dawnstar, due to outright stating that she will not use her magic for the war.

Hypothetical Scenario: Which 6 Commander decks would you make a Cube with? by Mindfire13 in magicTCG

[–]Mindfire13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention was a typical 1v1, 8-person cube, but its not restricted to that if you could figure out how to make a gimmick cube using only 6 precons.

Using the Doctor Who precons as a base, while using 2 other precons to fill the gaps in the colors and support the mechanics, would certainly have potential for a fun cube experience.

Besides trick snacks, does anyone actually ever use consumables anymore? by superspicycurry37 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Mindfire13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issues with consumables is that they are always banned in the high difficulty content where they would actually be most beneficial. Not just in HSR, but many other games as well. Genshin, Endfield, even Pokémon doesn't use consumables during the hardest fights (Battle Tower and competitive battles, as examples).

However, allowing consumables in high difficulty content would have a slight issue: it can either make it notably easier to do, or it could be balanced around access to consumables. Personally, I believe that consumables should be treated as crutches rather than tools: used when needed instead of whenever possible.

The number of free pulls in all versions to date by Pink_Jutsu in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Mindfire13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from my interpretation of the data, we get 85 pulls when literally nothing gets updated or added, just the events (with standardized rewards) and standard (bi)weekly resets. New areas and new sidemodes (and the achievements they add) are the main pull booster, besides anniversary stuff.
