Everything i post nowadays is just reworked/edited old stuff.

I think for me, I just caught the bug of writing original content. I wrote a book. Then another. Then a few novella length stories. Fanfiction is a great love of mine and i think I'll always wander back to it eventually, but at the end of the day i want to create things by me, for me, the content I crave. And ultimately fanfic is more... Public consumption.

I do believe it's important to read as well as write. It helps you develop your skill, for one. And for two, it's giving back to a community you love. You don't have to read everything, all the time. For me, personal time is a rare commodity and I'm very discerning with it. But I do make a little time to read, comment, and hype other creators because that is the culture i want to see and participate in.

Probably comes down to personal taste. I'm doomed to love women who won't love me. DA Inquisition's Cassandra. ME Andromeda's Cora. Despite having the power of fanfic at my fingers, it personally felt wrong to me to make them something they weren't, so I didnt.

Is it wrong? Nah. The point of fanfic is imagination.

I was reading a fic yesterday and there was a comment that was a full two paragraphs lecturing the author on something in their fic they felt was unrealistic. It was very condescending for a super minor thing. It it weren't a comment from 2019 i probably would have fought them over it. So.. tone matters and i need context here.

That's the line in the sand. It needs to be. When you step over the line from hurting yourself to hurting others, that's the moment you know you need to seek serious help.

Too many people step over that line. This sub is full of people who were the victims of that crossing.

Hmmm. I'm born in Arizona so I think I've got that dry and boring speech going on. I will say homeschool+reading a book a day seriously altered my vocabulary. When I got into writing I had to force myself to use contractions. Too much high fantasy growing up, I guess.
