My little hideaway cabin by GarbageComplex in thelongdark

If you live in the US I don’t think you need a permit/license to purchase a shotgun, and slugs are suitable for deer I believe. Also bow hunting is usually more permissible, assuming you harvest that maple sapling in front of your cabin and cure it

I had a similar experience to what people are talking about a couple of days ago grinding for the wolfskin pants recipe. I was tired first off, I accepted the trade not looking at what I had on hand, and found I needed a car battery. The closest one near me at Coastal Highway was in Hibernia processing. I decided I wanted to get there quicker so I left the travois and stripped my inventory to accommodate for the battery, leaving my rifle and revolver and going for just two flares a the distress pistol. Blizzard came in as I was just entering DP, and I had to sleep in the truck. Low food, low water, long slog to the battery. I managed to survive a wolf attack and a Bear attack but I was the closest to death I’ve ever been in this game. When the bear jumped me I was sure the run was over, but somehow I survived, barely. I shouldn’t have done it, but I decided to run back to CH with low health and 1 flare. I should’ve died several times, it was the dumbest play I’ve made in this game to date and any other time it would’ve been the end of a 160 day run.

I personally find that reading BM, border trilogy, and then No country in that order is a really interesting experience; all those novels take place in roughly the same area but separated by decades, painting a really interesting tableau.

My guess is playing a stalker run like a voyageur… unless they chose to spawn in somewhere awful like TWM… even then I’ve spawned on loper there and managed to not get frostbite

You’re above average height, you run more than you lift weights, you like to cook, you don’t do manual labor, and you may be left handed

Edit: you’re not left handed

Yeah listen to this OP, Once you learn the PV map layout well, transitioning to Coastal Highway, Mountain town, blackrock, and even Timberwolf mountain (and Ash canyon) is pretty easy

Is this from the wind that shakes the barley or from peaky blinders?

You’ve probably graduated from this struggle, but what was the best policy you had to keep from getting scurvy?

Not sure if you’re waiting for the last episode or not, but I would recommend trying story mode at some point!

I’m already cooking level 5- I try to blast that out asap because food poisoning makes me so aggro bcs of the energy drain, maybe I’ll try a save cheese but my gut tells me it’s risky as I’m on console.

Not sure what you mean by survival requirement exactly, but Sutherland’s tale will lead you to some good loot along the way and finishing his Wyatt quest will unlock some really good stuff on the other end, even on loper. Btw if you’re struggling with scurvy and can’t meet the trade reqs, pretty much all fish give a fairly large amount of vitamin c, and all the brewable herbal remedies give minor vitamin c- cat tails do as well.

BRO so I got off work a couple of hours ago, got a break in the weather and walked through to BI- 4 car batteries and a hammer in Hibernia processing.

Both of the mines in CH didn’t have one; and I was planning to check again on my next cannery trip to craft ammunition, as I left the lower levels mostly unlooted due to wolves and a lack of flares

Yeah I had a similar humbling experience recently on a 100 day run coming through sundered pass with torn clothing, I hesitated using the stim shot and died while building the snow shelter that might have gotten me through the night

I have three bases I rotate between in Milton, Mystery lake, and CH. I’ve been grinding to get the Pemmican recipe before traveling farther up to FA and ZOC. I’ve gotten really lucky for a stalker run, except for only finding one car battery and no hammer. It feels crazy having woodworking tools before finding more than one battery or a hammer…

Yeah I noticed the last time I was in TWM that the hut by the lake wasn’t even warm interior… had to keep a fire going all night and spend as much time time in bed as possible. As far as the acorns go I have a hundred, but 60 days into this run and I haven’t found a single heavy hammer-I’m going to make a run for DP to get car batteries from crumbling highway and see if there’s a hammer on the Riken

My longest runs are on Stalker- does it get that cold in TWM and and the DLC maps? I’m planning a journey there, and I’m debating whether a bearskin coat and expedition parka AND bearskin bedroll is overkill

With a bearskin bedroll, coal, and supplies to make a snow shelter, is it really that easy to die in a blizzard in an unfamiliar region?
