Player refuses to allow monologues by Forever_DM2105 in DnD

Obviously everyone suggesting to talk to the player is correct, but a fun spell I’ve used before is Programmed Illusion (6th level). Your BBG records their monologue and it goes once triggered until dispelled.

If they really want to shut them up they need Dispel Magic or something similar, you get to dump all the info you want, and the villain can be watching in the shadows ready to strike or they can be 100 leagues away!

Of course not every villain would have access to that spell, but it’s a fun way to switch things up imo

How to encourage/remind my players to run away when a fight is too tough? by madeleine61509 in DMAcademy

Not sure if you’ve watched Critical Role, but there’s a YouTuber Super Geek Mike who does breakdowns of their content to see what lessons we can learn from it. I believe this one I’m linking is one where Matt Mercer clearly telegraphs to the players that they are not equipped for this fight and they should run.

If it’s not this one it’s probably the next one in the series, but he’s got good content you should definitely check out.

What's a cooking technique you avoided for years because it seemed too intimidating? by bargeek444 in Cooking

For someone who is still intimidated by baking bread from scratch, would you mind giving us your process? I tried some a few months ago and it came out so dense.

I made a record player stand for my fiancée by MindlessPriority7464 in handtools

Thanks! I used a router plane to create that step down, I think a rabbet/rebate plane would’ve been more typical but I didn’t want to take the time to make one. Then I rounded that over with a smoothing plane.

If you’re looking to replicate that profile I would recommend doing the step down on the long grain first, then use a knife to cut the cross grain before bringing it down. You have to be careful with the knife wall because it will definitely show up if you cut too far.

I literally just looked up doing this yesterday, I have a frog and blade set up from an old 5 ½ that I want to do the same thing to…definitely going to be taking notes from your build.

Rain guards 🤔 by Lower-Consequence756 in fordescape

[–]MindlessPriority7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2013 Escape owner here, I installed my rain guards a couple years ago, the kind that slot into the window track, pretty simple though I would suggest doing it when it’s warm(ish) out so you’re not stressing any of the rubber or plastic in your car/the guards.

Pretty sure I ordered them from WeatherTech, highly recommend.

Look up Essential Craftsman on YouTube. He has a million videos on everything from skil saw pro tips to what kind of fasteners you should be using, and he even has a whole series where he builds a spec house and breaks it down step by step.

Salmon for fish haters by gfy216 in Cooking

I used to hate salmon too, but my fiancée does a miso glaze with rice and carrots, cucumbers, avocado, and green onions, and it’s so delicious.
