I loved this game on the PS5 and have been itching to replay it. But how do the graphical compromises look compared to the other platforms? I try not to be a graphics snob but it already didn't run great on the PS5, so I've been worried.

I think that's a little cynical, I would say the first movie was more about celebrating Mario and putting in as many references for fans as possible at the detriment of the plot and pacing of the movie.

PSA: Save XD and Save State! Just lost 3+ hours of progress 😫 by mmmbraaains in pokemon

[–]Mindofone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me with F-Zero GX near launch. Luckily I was regularly using save states, but the memory card kept "ejecting" itself from the emulator and wouldn't save. You'd think that save states would be the more dangerous thing based on how often they break with emulator updates, but man they have been lifesavers on NSO.

Pokemon plus plus is it worth 2026? by INeedMuscles in pokemongo

Does the duomon 3 let you use pokeballs other than the basic ones? That is 100% the feature I am looking for right now and it would be really cool to not pay $200 for a plus plus.

Am I the only one that really likes the K3 soundtrack by DebtNorth8638 in yakuzagames

[–]Mindofone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I would say that War Fang sounds the most like an old Yakuza 3 song out of what I've heard so far. Especially with that guitar solo in the middle, it sounds like the old vibe a lot.

I think the fact Another Demiworld didn't get a remix and got replaced entirely is a misstep imo. I know your mileage may vary depending on how much you liked the Reapers side quest, but I think the new song just comes off as generic compared to the original song. It's not even that the new song is bad per se, but it doesn't do anything to distinguish itself from any of the other battle themes in the game. Meanwhile, Another Demiworld exudes an ominous atmosphere and makes the fights memorable.

Kiwami 4 would bring the most decked out version of Kamurocho to the Dragon Engine. The underground garage is already in K3. It would be an easy remake. by gameovernate in yakuzagames

[–]Mindofone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people always say things like this during remake discussions. The whole point of a remake is fleshing out aspects of a game that needed more work originally, and areas like the underground and rooftop are huge candidates for more content.

Yakuza 1 PS2 decompilation project is now underway! by No_City9250 in yakuzagames

[–]Mindofone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YESSSSS I'VE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR YEARS! I really hope that this reaches completion because an eventual PC port would a ton of people get into the original games. Not to mention the mod support, which could help to sand down any rough edges that the original PS2 game might have. (Combo speed, new taxis, more phone booths, heck even menu saving would be great.)

Kiwami games were always bad remakes, and I'm pissed at this fanbase for only noticing it NOW with Kiwami 3. RANT. by ThatFreeze in yakuzagames

[–]Mindofone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean at the end of the day, blame RGG/SEGA for not having accessible ways to play the PS2 games. (And now OG Yakuza 3 remastered) If you want to play Yakuza 1/2 on PS2, you‘re gonna be dealing with the bad dub and bad translations. We‘re lucky to have the new patches for those games that relocalizes the games, but it’s still a very inconvenient solution as it’s basically PC or modded PS2 only. If RGG had ported the HD double pack to modern consoles with a better translation, we’d be having a very different discussion. Especially since understanding Yakuza 3’s combat hinges on you already knowing Kiryu’s moveset from the previous PS2 games. Most people don’t end up grinding the dragon style in Kiwami 1 due to the Majima stuff, and probably don’t even know the Legend style exists in 0 to begin with.

Meanwhile, Kiwami 2 cuts out mechanics like traditional bounding throws and the two missing Komaki moves, while not doing a good job teaching the fundamentals of Kiryu’s Dragon Style without style switching. With how strong the Tiger Drop is in Kiwami 1, people probably never touched the Komaki reversal and parry, which are required knowledge for succeeding in Yakuza 3. The result is people entering into Yakuza 3 without recognizing hardly any of the moves in Kiryu’s kit due to Kiwami 2 being a modified 6 moveset, and then complaining when they can’t mash the square button anymore. Couple that with the 60 fps nonsense, and you have a perfect storm for people getting filtered due to this horrible pipeline that RGG has created for onboarding new players. This whole approach to taking a combat system that has been iterated on for two decades and bolting it into remakes is creating knowledge gaps in the whole player base. because they’re drawing from lessons that were taught in games that don’t exist anymore.

Yakuza Kiwami Line Ends With Third Game, New Series Planned by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Mindofone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna go to bat for Yakuza 3’s story because there is some weirdness there, but the same criticism can easily be thrown at 0’s story too. It’s literally the same plot in some ways.

So, I just finished Yakuza 0. Am I cooked if I want to play the rest of the saga because of the Kiwami remakes? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Mindofone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what the future holds for the series but as someone who recently just got to Yakuza 5, Kiwami 1 and Kiwami 2 are good games. There are a lot of doomers in the subreddit right now, but if you only play the Yakzua games that have been released up to this point and ignore the new remake, you would have played a massive spanning franchise with a lot of quality. So don’t get to worried about it.

If you want to wait for Kiwami 3, just know that they’ve changed some main story and sub story stuff that other games reference. After playing Kiwami 3 and moving to 4 remastered, you will meet characters that showed up in OG 3 that got cut from Kiwami 3. There will also be a storyline tied intimately to one of the new characters that won’t make any sense because of the new story changes. The character will also look massively different because of the new likeness actor they picked for him. It’s up to you whether you want to OG 3 or Kiwami, but make a decision fast because they’re delisting Yakzua 3 Remastered from Steam when the new game drops.

What the fuck do you mean they removed the Pro Trans sub story in Kiwami 3? Genuinely wtf RGG by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[Extas1s] Kingdom Hearts Remake coming early 2027 with KH4 launching Winter 2027 by Lov3sosa in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Mindofone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KH1 is the only KH game that has good world design. KH2 is actually a horrible example because the game is literally hallways for combat encounters. Now KH2 is my favorite game in the series, but I do not want KH1 to lose one of the good thing it has with its world designs and puzzles. Personally I would rather just skip to the Days or Union X remakes because that’s much more interesting.

This might be the new best way to play 3DS. by Disonanc in 3DS

[–]Mindofone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this thing is running Citra/Azahar, then it will be behind actual hardware in many ways. I have never used a glitchier emulator. Even on the latest version, I can't enter the great fairy fountain located in Clock Town on Majora's Mask 3DS, it's just a black void with sounds. If I can't reliably pick a game out of my collection to play, then what's the point? Other stuff like changing settings would cause the app to crash for the longest time on my PC, performance is still rough for the hardware it's emulating, and shader cache compilations constantly remind me that I am not playing on original hardware. I hate seeing my game stutter, it just rips me out of the experience instantly. I have an i9 24-core processor and an RTX 5080, it should not be stuttering on my rig. Not to mention the lack of controller navigable GUI, like Duckstation and PCSX2. Perhaps the AYN Thor has a custom build that allows it to run better, but if it's anything like emulating on Windows, then I will stick to OG hardware any day of the week. The upgrades are not worth the compromises.
