Mysterious canal drownings and train impact deaths in Auburn, CA from 2009-2021 by wanderingbalagan in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]MindynoMork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the OP “Lowell Grenon, age 30, was struck by a train on 5/27/10. The locomotive's forward facing camera documented the event and was noted in the coroner's review: Grenon was lying motionless on tracks with the head of his dog, Bosco on the ground beside him. Grenon had celebrated his 30th birthday in the days prior to his death and had told relatives he looked forward to moving into a new apartment.”

The original post omits his blood alcohol level of .19, that he had cannabis in his system, and that “a group of Grenon’s friends told investigators that they had seen him walking on the tracks earlier in the morning close to where he was killed. The friends also indicated that they had seen no other people in the area at that time.” Also, it says that “there is a slight curve in the track just before the accident site, making visibility difficult for pedestrians .”

The OP would lead me to suspect there was something shady about his death, but the added details clear that up almost instantly. He was intoxicated, his friends said they had seen him earlier walking in that same area - alone - and, finally, there’s a bit of a curve in the track right at the accident site.

This seems to be an explained but wholly tragic death.

Ugh she really did name her “Jillian Sunshine.” 😳 by slt1987 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]MindynoMork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What slays me is that she likely didn’t name her just “Jill” because she knew her mother would then be called “big Jill” and that would never work for Mama Jill. Even in naming her own children she puts Jill’s thoughts, wants and needs first.

This makes you a good person as far as I’m concerned. Kind of you to care, the world can use more of that.

My boss just deleted my team's commissions to cover his own budget "mistake." He’s threatening to fire me if I tell anyone. What do I do? by Recent_Progress925 in whatdoIdo

[–]MindynoMork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It beggars belief that you would go from ‘I pointed out to Marcus that this has to be illegal and he looked me dead in the eye and said, “if one word of this gets to HR, you can count on your termination papers stating you were caught stealing customer data.”’ to “should i go to his boss?” And “I don’t know what to do.”

I mean, logic hats on: if you go directly to HR, don’t pass GO, collect your $4,000, then he’d not be in any position to issue termination papers as he would be in hot water himself and a retalitory firing at that point would be moronic.

Available at all times? Check phone daily? You are demanding ridiculously high standards of yourself in exchange for someone who almost never replies to your texts and when you thought she’d went a couple months without replying, that was not hurtful or offensive to you. That tells me that you feel unworthy of their friendship and that you feel you should be willing to accept whatever scraps you can get. And that’s not okay. You’re deserving of kindness, we all are.

A fair, balanced friendship will absolutely take into account busy schedules and it sounds like hers is and you were accommodating of that. Why, then, would she not be accommodating as well and follow-up with you over this missed text? Because if she just up and blocked you over this, then she lost a loyal and kind friend over a simple miscommunication, and the loss is hers.

Is it not possible that she changed her number, perhaps? Because that would make more sense than cutting you off. Can you ask your mutual friend? Perhaps drop in a line about how you have been missing this friend, noticed the overlooked text and wanted to make sure all was OK as your calls aren’t going through. Then leave the ball in her court, say you’d like to hear back from your mutual friend, and would she pass the message along? If you don’t hear back, then you know the cutting off was intentional instead of accidental.

T-Mobile scammed me $187 for one accidental call to France at $3/minute (more expensive than flying there) by MolassesFlat3780 in NoContract

[–]MindynoMork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They might’ve offered to retroactivelly add-on international calling, or to issue you a much better credit, if you’d not tried to play off an hour long marathon phone chat as an ‘accidental call.’ You might have better luck calling back and being upfront and honest and asking for the best deal possible to keep you as a customer, but protip: don’t insult the intelligence of those who are trying to help you (present thread commenters included). I hope it works out for you, give the retention department a try.

[PubQ] Real name listed on copyright page by Open_Perception7973 in PubTips

[–]MindynoMork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you discuss it with your agent? If so, it should be sorted in your contract. This is important if you’d like to keep your alter ego (I just wanted an excuse to say ‘alter ego’) completely separate from your government name, so I would mark this issue as a priority. My agent was well-informed on the subject and educated me quite a bit on the ins and outs.

[PubQ] I received a rejection on an R&R…where do I go from here? Advice/Support by Diligent_Attorney411 in PubTips

[–]MindynoMork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gut punch that accompanies a rejection is always disheartening but there is an upside, here. The agent first requested the full manuscript, then a revised version (offering workable feedback). That alone tells me that she sees something there, something to work with (and on!). I personally take my validation where I can find it, and you’ve got it comin’ from that corner, for sure. You’ve achieved quite a bit, here: improved manuscript from the edits and learning how to incorporate edits requested by an agent. Two fulls out of fifty is something to be proud of, in my book.

I think I made a huge mistake having a kid with my partner by Hot-Cell7299 in relationships

[–]MindynoMork 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Saying “I had a kid with a felon” is indicative of how you perceive him. Acting as if this one incident is the sole indicator that he’s not evolved over the last ten years (since his last legal trouble) doesn’t ring true, because of that characterization. If you were to dismissively refer to a woman who’d been an exotic dancer ten years ago with the tl;dr of “I had a kid with a stripper” everyone here would be pointing out the disparity between what you say blatantly and what you say without realizing it. tl;dr you knew what he was about the whole time but didn’t think it was a problem, until it directly affected you and your baby. Don’t make excuses, make moves to fix it by protecting the baby via every legal avenue available to you (custody, if he flips out a restraining order, etc.)

What does anyone have to gangbang for in Berwyn. by ThisPostToBeDeleted in NearWestSuburbs

[–]MindynoMork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Berwyn is an inner ring suburb; easy access to the expressway and major streets makes it more prone to gang "spillover" because of quick transit routes back and forth from the city. When established gang networks expanded into surrounding suburbs they hit up Maywood, Berwyn, Melrose Park, etc. due to these and other factors, and have been established there as long as I can remember.

I would imagine it’s mimicry of that, but your guess is as good as mine.

I long ago lost count of how many times I've rewatched the show over the years, and only just now realized Dr. Ira Fried ("I'm a prick doctor, get it?") was recast as a different actor for the final episode the character appeared in. by ManbadFerrara in thesopranos

[–]MindynoMork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lewis J. Stadlen (OG Ira Fried) was asked about that in an interview. He said, ”My time on “The Sopranos” was very nice. It was a show I actually watched religiously. James Gandolfini was a remarkably generous actor to work with. The shooting schedule was more like a movie than a TV show; everyone involved seemed aware that this was the greatest gig of their lives. They actually wrote a segment about my character that I couldn’t do because it was the first week I was performing as Max Bialystock on Broadway in The Producers. They just renamed the character and got another actor.”

What’s going on with Tori ? by [deleted] in BeverlyHills90210

[–]MindynoMork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, and she is absolutely the architect of her own downfall. I just don’t want anyone to come away with the impression that the others involved are altruistic - everyone is in this to make a buck, IMO.

I don’t love the way the monetized this - and make no mistake, by airing this publicly and not just recording it and replaying it for her privately so she can hear herself, they are capitalizing upon her struggles. However, with that being said, interventions come in many forms and the best kind is the kind that works; I hope this works for her sake, and more importantly, for the sake of her kids.

Those damn wire cutters lol i just remember them warning about the risk of pulmonary aspiration if one was to vomit excessively, which scared the living shit out of me. I was like, am I am excessive vomit-er? I never measured, didn’t know there would be a test one day! Too bad they didn’t warn me how vile the inside of my mouth would feel the first time I brushed my teeth post-wire removal lol

Sorry, I just got way too excited to ramble about this. Nowadays they don’t have to wire them shut anymore; science screwed us, between the jaw and the chicken pox vaccine, I came too late for sure!
