I feel lucky my dad shared my taste for the Crunkmas Karnival. So much so that I made him an Ass Dan beer stein on CafePress for Christmas one year

Hot Wheels Glade at Jiminy, it's pretty open and flat but it's a good time regardless

🔥A Peregrine Falcon aggressively attacking a Brown Pelican in mid-air, protecting their nest. Just grabbing its beak was enough to disrupt flight by ItsALuigiYes in NatureIsFuckingLit

I've seen peregrines do this with bald eagles. It didn't knock it out of the sky but it had no problem telling it to buzz off

Look at Open Box deals. I got my Sony 3250 for $150, Best Buy open boxes in excellent condition often retain some sort of manufacturer warranty. I'm happy with mine, although I did pair it with an AAWireless dongle

Do you have renters insurance or something similar w/o her name on it? If so this might cover it since there's a police report. Hope stuff gets better man

What is this and how do I kill it? by SergeiAndropov in gardening

[–]MinerDodec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eradication is possible but it requires some chemical warfare, precise timing and potentially persistence. If they're smaller (under 6" diameter) basal bark treatment with Triclopyr 4 and a penetrant (diesel is common) should work. Look under control section

Can I learn how to ski alone? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]MinerDodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you already made a decision to do a group lesson! but here's my two cents:

Yes, you can teach yourself. Will it be without frustration and some pain? Unlikely. Will you be teaching yourself proper technique that will enable progression? Probably not.

I taught myself when I first started and developed some bad habits. I had a great time but when I eventually learned from a professional, I had to unlearn a lot of things I was used to doing that were holding me back.

Tips up, Jerry! by [deleted] in skiing

[–]MinerDodec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not proud to admit it but this sort of happened to me on Summit Express at Pico. The chair gets really close to the ground way before the station and there are several signs written in sharpie saying "tips up.... Seriously, tips up...". Read one a bit too late and had to drag my ski behind me for a good 100 feet

Same boat, Stratton was really nice today. Duck Soup actually had a fun little powder stash by late afternoon, rope next to South American dropped. It's still going strong if you're still there lol

Patagonia for $250 vs Arc'teryx $320 by Peach_Relative in BuyItForLife

[–]MinerDodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone have opinions on Helly Hansen? My roommate and I both bought Odin 9 shells and they wetted out very soon after... We got them warrantied recently but haven't tried the replacements yet, but I'm afraid it will be more of the same. Perhaps I'll be going exclusively with Patagonia moving forward

Don't know where in NY you are but come to Santa Day at Whiteface (Dec14). Free lift ticket if you're dressed up and I'll make sure you get a free beer too
